so even in an emergency where we need power now, its still a long complex process to get the power station working once again.

The design is not completely flawed, but it is easily sabotagedThis is combination of poor workmanship and possibly design. But I highly doubt the design is the issue here. We saw on Medupi post-weld-heat-treatment was omitted in the boiler tubes construction, which is why those boilers kept on failing. The workmanship of contractors building power plants are just pathetic. In most cases you going to find its what we deem reputable OEM’s who are making these big schoolboy mistakes.
Whats astounding about this failure is the operating parameters around these ducts are not what I would refer to as severe. The duct is under negative pressure venting particulate through the smoke stack. This might be as result of movement or unaccounted vibrations between the scrubbers and the smoke stack. But here again these things are typically simulated prior during the design stages.
Anyways seems they can’t operate all three units as this damaged duct compromises the vacuum needed to vent the particulate.

Thats what I thought.
Laughable. Deeds not words. Easy to say things. Load shedding has been going on for 12 years. Only now that things are at a dire point, and elections are next year, so the pretend to jump into action. I don’t believe a word they say. Rather start showing us - and for starters get to the bottom of these cartels, start making arrests and convictions and keep the lights on.Only 18 months...

I don't think Eskom does either. Please help me understand. Currently, we are jumping up and down when it comes to load shedding.
As of writing this post, we are sitting on 24.3GW, and we are load shedding 5.3GW. Eskom's total capacity is around about 33GW. How the hell are we in the red? We are only missing about 8.5GW, give or take.
I don't understand.

When you only have about 50% of the 44GW up and running you're short. Please help me understand. Currently, we are jumping up and down when it comes to load shedding.

According to those numbers, if we stopped LS, demand would still be less than available capacity and then we still have an extra 3GW on top. When you only have about 50% of the 44GW up and running you're short.
I don't know anymore with Eskom, sometimes it does honestly feel deliberate as yesterday we shouldn't even had shedding but we did at stage 4 on a SundayAccording to those numbers, if we stopped LS, demand would still be less than available capacity and then we still have an extra 3GW on top.

I mean the road collapsed on Hendrik Potgieter here close to me in December, it's now end of March, still can't use it. If this was any other country or time it would've been fixed in a weekCould probably be done in 2 months if they just got down and did the repairs but the cadres need to make sure the tenders for repairs have enough gravy to feed all the BEE/cANCer fatfuk piggies
It's about 2 km's from me. I had a look it's not a sophisticated fix nor any fancy engineering required. The fill over the concrete pipes washed away so instead of filling up with earth it only needs proper refilling and support with gabians and surfacing.I mean the road collapsed on Hendrik Potgieter here close to me in December, it's now end of March, still can't use it.
