The rand isn’t acting like it’s supposed to

Despite often positive outcomes due to a weakening dollar, the market was not kind to the rand in February, and the rand outlook is becoming more worrying, said Rashad Cassim, the deputy governor of the South African Reserve Bank (SARB).

Here is a hint retard, it is because the prospects of doing any business in South Africa are very bad because there isn't enough electricity to sustain any meaningful growth.

The rand is based on global market stability, dollar drops, the rand drops, dollar gets stronger the rand drops, if the dollar can stay still for 3 months the rand gets stronger

The biggest worry of this article is the quality of SARB cadres and the explanations they come up with...

Go visit a few few African countries near us and see how many are trying to make sure they're not dependant on the ZAR at all within the next 5-10 years.

They're jumping ship, fast lol.

Maybe we can base the ZAR on the Malawi Kwatcha one day soon when its far stronger :p

I tried to buy dagga from a dealer in Botswana using Rands and he told me that he's not in need of toilet paper.

What? Was anyone perhaps hoping for $35 to the Rand?

Markets can't bank on a weaker dollar boosting the rand.
South Africa should be rolling in money right now. Gold is approaching all time highs. South Africa was the world's largest gold producer for years and years before the ineptitude of the ANC and threats by Malema to nationalise everything chased away South Africa's chances of foreign investment.

Now we have nothing. We are the sphincter of Africa.
