How so?The irony here is it can at worst potentially become a "threat to democracy".... by making the the appointment of judges democratic.
If the ruling party can appoint judges and overrule judgements..... how is that not democratic? How so?
But then there's no separation of powers between elected people and the judiciary when the elected can just remove inconvenient judges in favour of toadies who will do their bidding and shield them from prosecution. If the ruling party can appoint judges and overrule judgements..... how is that not democratic?
It seems Israel doesn't have a written constitution so anything goes really..But then there's no separation of powers between elected people and the judiciary when the elected can just remove inconvenient judges in favour of toadies who will do their bidding and shield them from prosecution.
Separation of powers is actually an inherently undemocratic notion. But then there's no separation of powers between elected people and the judiciary when the elected can just remove inconvenient judges in favour of toadies who will do their bidding and shield them from prosecution.
Well, courts enforce laws dreamed up by politicians. And should be independent but only to the extent that they interpret laws. If they start making up their own laws then they need to be reigned in. Is that what is happen in Israel.Separation of powers is actually an inherently undemocratic notion.
The big problem here is no system is perfect and the courts in Israel have become an independent political force rather than staying objective. These reforms are an attempt to reign in these aspirations..... though personally I think Israel has slidden so far into disunity it's not going to survive for long without either civil war or dictatorship.
I don't think the corruption charges are anything but this political force applying pressure. And I see him responding with pressure in return.Well, courts enforce laws dreamed up by politicians. And should be independent but only to the extent that they interpret laws. If they start making up their own laws then they need to be reigned in. Is that what is happen in Israel.
You don't see anything wrong with a person facing corruption charges wanting to amend laws so he can have control on who may sit over his own prosecution? And prevent his own removal if he's deemed unfit for office?
Those are merely the enemies of the left.Is this why the protests in Israel haven't seen much traction outside of Israel?
Doesn't fit the narrative?

Meh. People are sheep.
*I don't know what's happening yet so can't say if I agree with the sheep in the streets or not.

WTF does this have to do with their melanin counts? It's about the character of their accusers. They are also white.
Rietie and Rambo are quick to condemn the likes of Zuma / ANC etc.
Corrupt white right wing politicians always get massive "benefit of doubt" and a multitude of reasons as to why any criminal charges are always politically motivated.
Not so white politicians are immediately assumed guilty.
