Social grants 'one of the greatest achievements' of democratic SA, says Ramaphosa

Agree 100%. About endless kids, in cities, I do not know of anyone who has more than 3 kids (2 is more common - apparently helps to manage better) but then I am talking about middle class upwards. Exclusion is 1 professor I know who has 7 kids but he is from Ghana.
I suspect Uncle Cyril has at least 12, but mainly adopted or semi adopted, probably on social grants. No, I am kidding - he has (I have heard) helped a good number of kids, black obviously but, there again, he can afford it.

What's scary is realizing that Jacob Zuma may have had more business sense and were actually more intelligent than Cyril....
Unfortunately you are completely underestimating the damage done to this country by the Zuma years. Even if we get the best government the world has ever seen, it will take decades to undo the rot he has caused.

He is not wrong. Social grants to the destitute and struggling are a good use of my taxes.
Yep and with the ANC policies in place you and I don't have to worry about paying those taxes for long. We'll soon be joining the masses for handouts.

We both know that is not true. We have the benefit of an education, a network of similarly educated, capable, articulate and creative people we can tap. Basically, we are capable, so will and can make a plan to make a buck, legitimately.

For those on the grant system they don't have that.

When the entire economy collapses, the pot becomes very small indeed. It will be a massacre in the job market I know I sound alarmist and probably over the top but when the snowball starts it'll be very hard to stop.

Pushing millions into unemployment the ANC's greatest achievement.
Not a fair statement. We must consider the capability and technological gap between our labour force and requirements of modern industry. A gap, and I hate to beat that drum, would be substantially smaller if not for apartheid.

I disagree. You need to create an environment where the economy grows for everyone by exploiting your resources.

SA's has got abundant resources of cheap labour but the ANC government has ensured that that resource remains unexploited. We all know that social grants buys votes so we know why the ANC is hampering the economy.

LOL, After almost 30 years - and you are still beating the same drum, and will do so for the next 350 years!

The ANC destroyed every single existing, functional educational/training college (and did not build a single one);
Forced out the most experienced people that could have taught and upskilled the very unemployable that need it the most;
Lowered the standards of the whole educational system;
Destroyed every single SOE, which was functional, and treated it as their own piggybanks;
Allowed corruption to flourish in every facet of our economy under the auspices of BEE, BBEE, BBBEE and "transformation" - transforming the potential Powerhouse of Africa into a farking basket case and the laughing stock of the world!

If countries like Japan/Germany/Vietnam/even Rwanda can get over their past and rebuild their countries why can't we????

I'll tell you - it is because of backwards-thinking individuals like you who aim so low as to shoot yourself in the foot!

Learn from the past (mistakes), put it behind you and get working to create the South Africa that should have been - for ALL South Africans, first and foremost!

And it all starts with the little things:
No-one owes you anything!
Nothing in life is free!
Work for what you want.
Grow up and take responsibility for your actions and be accountable for your decisions!

The perspective from a 'privileged entitled convinced of exceptionality now the poor victim' has. It is not uncommon.

You will be surprised how many of us backwards thinking people who actually experienced and remember the last decade of Apartheid understand your mindset. You were a victim as much as us in a way, just the other side of the coin. We are all somehow still affected by it.
