A letter has been making the rounds, claiming that Joburg City Council Colleen Makhubele had been fired, however, Cope refuted the claims and said the letter was fraudulent.

It just means they lack the numbers. They seemed to have lacked the numbers on the speaker vote too, but the DA were kind enough to hand that position to them on a platter.

The IFP in KwaZulu-Natal announced on Tuesday that former EFF councillors, Bongimpilo Nhlengethwa and Zanele Nzuza, were among 155 members of various parties who joined it.

According to the IFP, 40 ANC members, 30 from the EFF, 37 from the Abantu Batho Congress, and 48 from ActionSA recently joined the party, leading to "exponential growth in its membership".

Tshwane councillors warned to only use ‘X’ in mayoral vote

The Tshwane mayoral election began on Tuesday afternoon with councillors warned that only an ‘X’ would be allowed in the voting process.

The names on the ballot will see DA Councillor Cilliers Brink battle it out with Cope candidate Ofentse Moalusi.

The IEC, who will be overseeing the voting process, which is via secret ballot, warned councillors that only an X marking on the ballot will be allowed.

A voter who uses any other symbol besides an X will find their ballots marked ask spoiled.

The DA had seen all its ballots spoiled in the previous mayoral election because the ballots revealed a voter’s identity.
