Several long-standing matters are still under investigation by the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC), including the Belinda Magor case.

In November, the commission issued a letter of demand to Magor, from Benoni, who was accused of a racist rant. Among other demands. It demanded she make a public apology, which it is still waiting for.

So... nothing. This article dates back to the 14th, but no media outlet has to this date checked up with the court, and the police, and wrote a story about it.

I am surprised that the SAHRC did not attach a deadline to their demand.

This Magor thing seems to be something some people want to go away.

But why is Hamilton not fighting for justice for Piquet ? That makes him equally guilty, don't you think?

Has it even been ascertained yet that she is indeed an actual person?
There still seems to be some confusion regarding that.

The police would know since they arrested and processed Belinda Magor. All the media have to do is to check up with the assigned police investigator and look up the court's record. Until then, it is assumed that the person does indeed exist because that is what we have been told, not only by the media, but also by the authorities. Those who have initiated proceedings against Magor would also have notice, but Azapo and Panyaza have been radio silence since. We don’t know whether charges have been dropped, when the next court session is, etc. No status update.

Yes, the problem is that our courts aren't digitised to that extent, other than some uploads applicable to only some courts. This being a magistrate's court you would need to walk into the relevant courthouse, track down the appropriate clerk and then maybe get an answer. I don't think the clerk will have the time to search through all the records, and I doubt they will let you check the public records either. Neither do we know whether the case is on the record.

Courts do have an access process, though it is not standardized across the courts. This is why it is important to digitise the system, and standardise its use. All in all, it is easier to access the higher courts, looking up records, than the lower courts. You could phone them, and ask them whether the case was heard, but they will most likely point you to the access process.

The best chance at receiving answers is to check up with the assigned investigator. Whom will also need to be tracked down, and whom will have to be willing to communicate that which is considered sensitive. The other is to engage with those who opened cases against Magor, namely Azapo and Panyaza, but they would need to be willing to give answers too. The charges being criminal, the NPA could be contacted, but again, they would need to be willing to provide answers, not to ignore that the appropriate person has to be tracked down too.

The media on the other hand has liaisons with the above, and the press having privileges they can report on their discoveries without censorship.

What is the latest with this woman ?

I heard she is quite the character with no one wanting to work with her & trying to sue for wrongful arrest

No one is going to want to hire her .. just curious as to how her life is now
