Bunny Chow pictures

wasn't a proper bunny and just used what I had in the fridge. No corn flour. Used some brown onion soup.

Ingredients

Wheat flour (gluten), cornflour (sulphur dioxide), salt, flavouring, onion (3%), colourants (E150d, E124, E110), flavour enhancers (monosodium glutamate, E631, E627), potassium chloride, radurised herbs, vegetable oil (palm fruit, TBHQ), paprika extract. Allergens:wheat gluten This product was manufactured in a factory that also processes cow's milk, egg and soya.

Personally I find curries thickened with cornflour to be unpalatable. A couple tablespoon of Smash would give you a more authentic Durban Style Gravy. (If you can't get your hands on Cape Douglas potatoes)

I'll keep that in mind next time I don't have Smash in the cupboard but brown onion soup.

Brown UNION soup may may be considered as rascist to other soups ,what soups do brown unions use that makes them special?

have any of the Durban based guys tried the Capsicum restaurant at the Britannia Hotel - some of the best bunnies i have tasted - even their Roti Rolls are great - also if you can handle the chillis then ask for some extra sambals and for a deliecious accompaniment also ask for a few of their Papad (pappadums if that explains it better for you)

It's been around for years, I think most people in Durban have been there. It's a well known curry joint and famous for their bunnies and chops chutney!

Belo pictured Bunny from The Raj Takeaways in Sun City Jan 2023.
Was really majestic.
Prior to this I had one at Victory Lounge in Umhlanga, I think that trumped the Raj.

Best Bunny I ever had though was in DBN CBD, probably 20 years ago, don't even recall the name of the place.

Jolly Grubber Tortilla's are my go to food in DBN though.

Here at Home in CPT, nothing is better than mom's curry of course.

yuk !!

Bunny chow is 'n eg Suid-Afrikaanse wegneemete.
Soms word daarna verwys as bloot ‘n bunny.
Dit bestaan uit 'n uitgeholde stuk brood wat met kerrie gevul word.
Dit kom oorspronklik van die Indiese gemeenskap in Durban.
Afhangende van die kerrie waarmee dit gemaak word (skaap, hoender of bone)
