Order granted to forfeit Mercedes of ‘Woolies looter’

Good news, I wonder if he learned his lesson or even feel ashamed.
Yes, the lesson here is drive a toyota (not sure, but i think its a toyota), and have issues putting a 58" tv into one, as you didn't play with blocks as a kid, and have a bad idea of what fits.

At least he had the foresight to remove the number plate which has the ability to foil our country's intelligence services unlike the woolworths guy.

Spacial awareness skills not withstanding, I wouldn't actually give him the benefit of having forethought, I suspect he just didn't have one on there in the first place.

Apparently the Woolworths guy drove around with fake number plates. The reason he got caught is because people recognised him.

How scandalous, I never imagined anyone could ever not be able to identify a Kentucky Rounder.

There is a **** load of video and whatsapp evidence. Only one conviction because he pleaded guilty out of the whole 10 days looting "insurrection" spree. The law went after the citizens defending themselves instead of the actual criminals.

I don't think the problem is the corolla guy.

He isn't the problem, but he is one of the problems. One of many that should've been addressed.

Sure, he was 0.00000000001% of it, one of many. They should have started with the Zuma's on Twitter and worked their way down from there to the whatsapp group coordinating the movements, then head on over to the video evidence, all in a special court setup to prosecute everyone in one go. Done and dusted in 1 month.

Unfortunately, this all takes real police work. We don't do that here anymore.

ANC voter is getting cheekier. Happy to use Germany's BMW but don't want to employ Ze Germans due to BEE. What a state we are in.

Well Daimler is now owned by China, at least 20% is.

Part of me agrees with you, I don't think asset forfeiture should happen before a trial, but do you think there is the slightest chance that this guy won't be found guilty?

Why is the car being taken? The guy should have been charged for the equivalent crime of shoplifting and gotten jail time, fine or community service. To take his car is ridiculous.

Next time you guys are found out over some tax mistake or some such, you too may lose your home or car.

Welcome to the wild mad world of civil asset forfeiture.

Outside of expropriation without compensation, it is the single biggest threat to property rights.
