African Transformation Movement (ATM) leader Vuyolwethu Zungula reiterated its stance for South Africa to be withdrawn from the Rome Statute - and to refrain from arresting Russia's President Vladimir Putin.

In a letter seen by News24, Zungula wrote to President Cyril Ramaphosa, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Naledi Pandor, and Justice Minister Ronald Lamola.

I am all for this. South Africa is a communist regime and should withdraw with immediate effect and side with the communists. Time of reliance on the West, Western money, Western support, Western Cars is over for these people.

Agreed comrade! Viva!

Agreed comrade! Vi -wait what?... no more money and no more cars? Let's not be so hasty comrade.

The High Court struck this down already in 2017 as unconstitutional when the Zuma regime tried it. South Africans seem to have a very short memory:

South Africa has revoked its withdrawal from the International Criminal Court (ICC) after the High Court said the move was unconstitutional. It had notified the UN of its intention to leave last ...

The United States is not a state party to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (Rome Statute), which founded the International Criminal Court (ICC) in 2002 as a permanent international criminal court to "bring to justice the perpetrators of the worst crimes known to humankind— war crimes, crimes against humanity, and...

They expect us to follow rules that they themselves don't. We should quit the ICC before we are required to arrest Putin.

The USA is not expecting SA to follow any rules. The ICC and UN are. Expect sanctions if Putin comes to SA and is not arrested.

SA did that with the despot Bashir already. They also helped Disgrace Mugabe and the Guptas out of the country.

SA cannot claim to have inherited, were forced to or tricked into joining. SA cannot pick and choose once signed to who its suits them.

South Africa is a signatory to the Rome Statute, which created the ICC in 1998 at the inaugural conference in the Italian capital.

Paper laws and signed agreements mean nothing to a people whose traditional laws demand that the word of the King, Chief or Headman is the law and he is entitled to change his mind.

Yup. They were very happy to have SA judges on the ICC.

Shamila Bathoyi, Director of Public Prosecutions served on the ICC. Her record was less than exemplary though. She refused to prosecute Mugabe and Hamas.

Don't arrest Gladimir = Whining from NATO, sanctions.
Arrest Madimir = Possible Act of War.

ATM are Zuma acolytes and unofficial mouthpieces. There are rumours the party is his and Ace's creation.

There is a third option, publicly signify you will arrest him so that you don't get sanctions and have further trade benefits from the west. Then vlad just doesn't come over.

IIT (Institute of International Transparency) says the opposite.

I figured I could also invent some kind of tin pot organisation, and give it a grand sounding name.
