So a few back I went into Dischem to purchase the infamous morning-after pill only to be told they do not sell these to men.

And I just saw a Tweet a few minutes ago confirming this.

Probably some healthcare requirement. Been a round for years like even a decade. When I tried given the same story, no she has to come in. They just ask are you sure and if you want counselling.

Weird, I specifically remember going to the local pharmacy to buy one many years ago, many many years ago, but still.

Probably because the lady needs to complete a small form before they can provide the pill, including the last ovulation date, etc. I'm pretty sure they keep a record of this for legal purposes

The last run-in I had, and from what I can remember, this pill is just a higher dose of the contraceptive pill, not so?

Clicks pharmacist Waheed Abdurahman confirms that the morning-after pill is stocked at all Clicks pharmacies and sold over-the-counter for R67.10 (price correct as of July 2016 but it may change).

1. “It may only be supplied to the person who will be using it herself – we don’t sell it to a third party who may be trying to collect it on her behalf,” says Abdurahman.

2. The pharmacist will require certain information that needs to be accurate.¨

3. A form has to be signed by the customer, which is a legal requirement.
