Putin says Russia will enforce rouble payments for gas from Friday

Comrade @Wut has already got the 100 roubles bonus for posting that.

With democracies you have to make the transitions more slow for the common folk, people are fickle and you also look after your own. It's not like our Putinista's Ruzzia where the dear leader says "we mobilize and the serfs will sacrifice themselves" and everyone says "what profound words! We do it".

Of course our Putinistas mostly would never want to live in Rushia. They would prefer to live in a Western country or one with similar rules to what the West has.

Why?

The food secure, energy secure, natural resources secure?

Only everday tech and medicines is an issue. And China can assist them with that.
Also Pakistan, India, and many other countries are buying Russian oil and gas.

And? India is complying with the price cap set by the G7, they're actually getting it for a rate below the cap.

The Biden administration will continue to discuss India’s purchases of Russian oil with government officials but is satisfied so far that New Delhi is buying the crude well below a western price cap, senior State Department officials told reporters on Wednesday.

India’s purchases of Russian oil are a constant topic of discussion between the US and India as Washington seeks to deny Russia the revenue it needs to fund its invasion of Ukraine, the officials said. They briefed reporters on condition of anonymity.
It’s good both for the Indian economy and for stabilizing oil markets that India is buying crude at deep discounts from the cap, the officials said.

No, they are not Daf. The US officials jumped the gun by saying that on the 1st of March. India clarified that they will buy oil at any rate as long as it makes economic sense to them and will not comply with Western oil price caps. They have been buying oil at an average rate of $79.80 per barrel since January.

Soon the Russians will gladly take this:

You sound so sure of yourself.

Are you 100% sure it's been done universally or with state approval?

Even that article your posted says they will just use Rupees if they want to buy above the price cap.

Russia continues to get its crude to market by allowing vessels to carry out ship-to-ship transfers, where oil is off-loaded in the middle of the ocean outside the view of regulatory authorities.

Workarounds to Western sanctions have undermined their impact. In 2022, the Russian economy contracted more modestly than expected, by 2.1% compared to the previous year. This year, the Bank of Russia projects that the economy will grow by 2% as the country shakes off the effects of the sanctions.
