'Better under Apartheid": The desperate lament of Soweto’s poor and fearful elderly

They don't understand if you give somebody something, you're literally giving it to them to do what they wish.

Give a guy your car? You can't be upset that he doesn't wash it, doesn't service it or uses it to make doughnuts in the road. That is what democracy is, you don't have to be happy with the outcome.

Exactly, now we have to teach them to let go, what a chore...
"we" and "them"...yep makes perfect sense now.

The feeble excuses some people come up with, just shows the desperation and the embarrassment caused by the great liberation movement.

You can, however, be upset when he comes back demanding you give him another and then another because poor him. No. At that point, fsck him and the hoender hok on wheels he has to show for it.

The deal was never to mindlessly flush everyone's future down the drain. Equality of opportunity vs. equality of outcome basically. The latter always fails and we're it.

You can only give freedom once. People control their own future in this game of society.

If throwing special marked paper into a box is the way people want to play, they should game the system and make it work for them.

I think the "we" and "them" was in the context of the people we were replying to?

Another analogy(in this context) is like giving somebody a guitar, but you're upset that they're not playing the guitar properly or enough. We can all be angry that somebody is wasting their talents and the good guitar, but we can't be angry that we gave them a guitar.

What a schit analogy...the fact that the person is not playing the guitar properly, is not fukking up 56million people's lives is it?? Or wiping all of Jimmy Hendrix music from history.

Try again...

So when the boers wrestled control of the country from the Brits they could do exactly what they wanted, it was their independence/freedom after all..

You didn't need to be happy with the outcome, why the gnashing of teeth over apartheid then?

What a sad read that is. I can only hope these people vote better, next year.

They did exactly that, didn't they?

In the context, the guitar/car is democracy, what do you want to do? Take Democracy back?

It's **** and they're stupid, but this is how democracy works, or are they not doing it correctly somehow? Are they cheating? Rigging elections? Oppressing voters? Taking away rights?

They DID do what they wanted. They dealt with the consequences.

The ANC is doing what they want now, they will deal with the consequences too.

The ANC have been successful in conditioning their voter-base to such an extent that voting for a party, other than the ANC, is like asking a devout Christian to convert to Islam.

Yep...they just hammer on apartheid coming back and Die Wit Gevaar before elections and the votes role in.

Yeah, those tactics used to work. When people are saying that Apartheid was better for them; you know **** has gone wrong.

Can't scare the voters like that anymore...

In all honesty, I think you can still scare voters, or at least some of them, but others are starting to go "But shyte worked under Apartheid, even though the system was horrible" and starting to question things.

Nobody, other than completely racist fsckwits, want Apartheid back...
