The latest ones were 5speed though iirc, so, it is the Conquest shape that was a 4 speed.Aye, it died the way it lived. Povo spec'd
Err... No, the Tazz died without a power steering and it still used a carburettor? What most cars are you talking about?like most cars in SA that arent BMW's
Correct, the 130 conquests where the last to be 4 speed, once it became the tazz around 1995 they were all 5 speed. The latest ones were 5speed though iirc, so, it is the Conquest shape that was a 4 speed.
Sounds about right, but still carburettor and no power steering? I think there was 3 models, 130, 160 and 160 sport?Correct, the 130 conquests where the last to be 4 speed, once it became the tazz around 1995 they were all 5 speed.
I forgot about the 160, it was a better model, but not really better since it was just what the previous Conquest was. It had an injector and an aircon I think, not sure about the power steering.Sounds about right, but still carburettor and no power steering? I think there was 3 models, 130, 160 and 160 sport?
I could be confusing it with my first car that was a 2000 Bantam. Those were sold as 1300, 1600 and 1600i, the i stood for important because it had power steering and fuel injection.
Will have to check but I'm pretty the MIL has a 97 Tazz that is 4 speedCorrect, the 130 conquests where the last to be 4 speed, once it became the tazz around 1995 they were all 5 speed.
I myself owned a 4-speed '98 Tazz, so they did exist. Will have to check but I'm pretty the MIL has a 97 Tazz that is 4 speed
There was a Conquest shape Tazz then there was Tazz Tazz. Just after they discontinued the Conquest they brought the same Conquest but it was a 1.3l, with a carburettor and it was now called a Tazz. Will have to check but I'm pretty the MIL has a 97 Tazz that is 4 speed
Mmmmm, I would not say "love" from my side. More like a nostalgic "shaming" to be honest.Good to see the humble TT getting so much interest/love. I always try to bump up the thread when there is any TT relevance floating around.
Good story.Mmmmm, I would not say "love" from my side. More like a nostalgic "shaming" to be honest.
After I wrecked my Bantam in 2004 and was looking for a replacement the Tazz was popular, I recall some students that also went to Cape Tech had some so I though it would be a worthwhile contender. Until I realised that even new ones came with a carb and no power steering. Big no-no since very few other cars still ran on carbs.
That said, if we look at the re-heated leftovers sold as new in the 2000s there was the 70s Citi, the 80s Uno and Midge (Sting, Tonic, Bantam) and the 90s Tazz. Between these re-runs it was a hit-and-miss in terms of what features you got.
If you did have a Tazz with aircon, my word, that thing would freeze you! Sap a crap load of power from the already weak engine - but you froze inside.
There are way more reliable engines than that, most I see on the road are smoking. The only good thing is that they can be repaired for cheap.I know a person who drove a Tazz and the engine seized. I am impressed, she should have received recognition for that feat.
Smoking. But did it die? There are way more reliable engines than that, most I see on the road are smoking. The only good thing is that they can be repaired for cheap.
I had a 130 sport, was a cheap runner but the body was hopelessSounds about right, but still carburettor and no power steering? I think there was 3 models, 130, 160 and 160 sport?
