Lux - power 5kw not charging or using batteries

WO27 ERROR is battery open .ie check that the battery output is connected to the inverter and is ok .are there fuses in and ok .i also dont see a battery isolator or cb unless its in trunking and is off or the software isnt turning the battery on .data cable may not be ok
W026 is battery open w027 is dc voltage low

there is a possibility that the installer used a wire with multiple cores , ie the one black wire has more than 3 strands , so it is doing the function of bringing power into the inverter and taking it back to your power box

if you do get someone around have them check the black wire thickness

what all do you have on the inverter ? whole house or just certain items?
one of the biggest problems is using multicore its totally out of the specs , you may not run an unbalanced load on a 220 v system such as in and out also the neutral may not be any other colour in a 220 v install other than black and that is in its entire length .On a 220v install its either left or right not both ,you pick up harmonics that can destroy a cable very quickly and hamper the way it works, but people still do it .

Seems like someone who says they are an electrician isn't really an electrician. Op should maybe contact someone else to come onsite regarding this, specifically a company that has experience with lux power inverters. Last thing you want is the house burning down.

That electrician didn't read the manual. I doubt that black "Gen" cable has the required amp rating for 25A input breaker and output breaker. And no fuses between battery and inverter. But there is a very good Luxpower DIY support group on WhatsApp. Deals with these issues on a daily basis.

not on my specs it says W026 is low battery ,

i wonder if battery is turning on or a communication problem ,.......or he just forgot to wire up the return to the changeover switch .
All round poor installation, I would get a specialist out to have a look...

That is the only wire I see going into the inverter :X for ac that is
the problem is some of these photos may be from mid install, ie data cable missing on this one while present on another , the only photo i have reasonable certainty when it was taken is the one indicating that the battery is flat :)

clearly the device has eskom power on that photo, and yet the battery isn't charging so just switching the battery on will help to have backup power

until someone can go around to give it a check and change the problems

it could also be as simple as the battery switched off due to low voltage, someone went to switch on and off and forgot the switch in the off position

now the inverter comes on when eskom is present (normal behaviour , the on off switch dictates behaviour when eskom is gone)

and the battery default behaviour might be not to power on by itself ie after a low voltage shutdown it may need intervention, ie switch on when eskom present (or worst case scenario jump start)

that is ignoring the wire setup

clearly if the device powers on when eskom comes on indicates it has ac in connected even if on wrong port
the fact that it could power devices during first shedding indicates out is also connected

hence why i deduce multi core wire

And then comes the next problem

Sure most electricians have a fair idea what they are doing (if accredited) with wires

But have very little idea on the settings of many of these devices and how to configure them

ie i have seen someone have his electricity increase by R2000 a month since installing his solar system

And often landed without electricity in load sheddings still

One data cable and setting change later he had a working system

Initially, I had thought that the issue might be due to a software setting, but it appears that the hired electrician was unreliable. In fact, he had even tampered with the setting and changed it to lead acid while attempting to fix it. Consequently, my friends have planned to hire a new electrician next week. However, I have requested them to take a picture of the situation as I am also interested in understanding what exactly the previous electrician had done.

Yes changing to lead acid is normally what people do if the inverter cannot operate with a lithium battery without communications established

ie selecting lithium profile requires communication to work properly on some inverters(salt have not read much on lux power and how it behaves)

It can't damage the battery if
Selecting lead acid and should still charge the battery correctly

I would ask them to check if the run light on the batyery heartbeats (flashes on and off all the time if on)to see if battery is on

If it isn't on it won't charge

The problem could still be settings related too

ie if the inverter is accidently on solar charge only setting
So would work first day until battery is flat and not recharge again via eskom

ie with no panels no charging

Thanks, I have asked them to check the run light, but they have not yet responded - will let you know once I get feedback from them.

A simple picture of the internal can go a long way, I am sure any installer would ask for that before making the Groot trek to Ballito.

Try to ask him to get a solar installer, they are not the same thing as an electrician, an electrician might be very good as an electrician but totally clueless in DC power, solar and inverters.

Good luck to him because those guys don't like small jobs and might get bored if it doesn't look like they can make a killing, hopefully he gets someone.

But I still say if he provides as much information as possible even the first guy can get help from this forum to fix it, if he has ran away anyone who can wire a light bulb and use a spanner also can.

Slightly off topic, but I I would avoid buying from ACDC if possible, especially more expensive items like batteries and inverters. **** company with mostly chinesium products and terrible support.
