Hi Guys,

Just had my installation done last week , 8kw Sunsynk Inverter , 1 x 5.32kw Battery (yes i should have 2 but that will come in a few months ), 6 x 450w Canadian Solar. I need some help understand the following :

Sunsynk App has about a 5 min delay , is that normal ?

Even though I have capacity in Panels I still see about 40 - 50w coming from Grid , is that the expectation ? for example around 10am i generate about 1300w but when not using that capacity the app shows 500w from panels and 50w from grid.

How much does shade affect the panels , After 2pm i have some shade partially covering part of 2 panels and my wattage starts dropping.

Whats your yield on cloudy days , yesterday was full cloud cover in the morning and my yield was about 25% of normal when full sun , is that the expectation ?

Thanks for the help , very new to this.

Cloudy day yield can drop as low as 25% or even lower than that, expected..

If the panels are installed in series, which they typically are, shading of any kind on one panel is going to affect output of the entire array..

Yes. Their app stats only updates every 5 minutes.

This might also be the grid trickle feed - check what that's set to in the inverter settings.

Massively. Shade on any of one the panels will reduce the entire string's output. You'll want to try to get rid of what ever is causing that shade if possible.

Yes cloud cover will kill your production, that is to be expected.

tiny shading does this

if a panel is shaded the power from other panels will bypass it via bypass diode
and as long as the voltage you get end of the line still fits in the range that can charge the battery you get full power from other panels

tiny shading that still has the panel produce some power means the bypass does not happen, and as power then flows over shaded portion does cause havoc then the whole array gets reduced

optimizers make that better

any app that listens to the cloud ie sunsynk growatt whatever will ad delay

the stuf is still happening as it should you just can't see it on the log until it is updated

You can lower the Sunsynk app delay down to 1 min. You do it via the Sunsynk.net website (IIRC). Busy right now, but can search for the instructions later if you need them.

Go to https://www.sunsynk.net/device/gateway (you'll need to log on).

On the main page you'll have "Status Statistics" and then "Gateway". Under Gateway you should see a device listed. Click the "More" button at the extreme right, then click "Settings". There's one setting there, a drop down which allows you to select the data interval. Values are 60s, 180s, 300s, 600s. Choose 60s, save and profit!

Just wanted to say thank you for this! Awesome to have the gateway updating more frequently. Feel free to send any other tips and tricks.

If I don't see that option, does that mean I'm not yet on an Advanced user profile?
I only see an option to unbind. Have filled in the form on the sunsynk website to change account type.

Sorted. And changed to 60s.
Thanks!

more info? i also cant change from 5 mins
On the sunsynk connect home page you can request a change of user level. Request the Advanced User.
Once done (took a few days for me), you can change the delay to 1min.

Hi - any chance you can be more specific about how to do this? I can find the setting (mine is 5 minutes) but I can’t find out how to edit it. Thanks.

Also keen to know if this is still possible.
