New York woman shot, killed by homeowner after car she was in pulled into wrong driveway

So how do you ring the doorbell/intercom without getting shot if the doorbell/intercom is located inside the property? American houses typically do not have an intercom located on the perimeter of the property.

Technically speaking you should not get shot for ringing the bell or knocking on the door.

That's not really how it works though, you leaving your front door open doesn't give anybody the right to enter your house.

But there is a door in the first place to make people question entering, many if not most American driveways don't even have a fence.

In suburbia you can however see where someone's property starts, you don't need a fence to demarcate it. Rural driveways still look like driveways just like in SA rural areas, thinking of the midlands here.

Yea but technically technically speaking you're already trespassing onto the property before you even get to the doorbell. And we know all about those "trespassers will be shot" signs.

How is it traspassing if the doorbell is...at the door. If you don't want any random people on your property, then put it at the gate, or put large boards warning the public of the dangers of wandering into your property.

It's a circular argument, no idea as to why the americans decided to do this.

Nobody has any reason to be on your property. No matter where the doorbell is. Easy as that. Arrangements will be made with couriers.

Why are americans so paranoid. lord. Come live in SA. Here burglars struggle to get through the gate then you first have a quick race politics discussion with them, before they run off.

Doesn't mean they have to die for that reason.
