Best payroll software for businesses in SA

Payroll is an essential aspect of any business, whether it be a startup, small company, or large enterprise, and businesses in South Africa have several options from which to choose.

Some of the best cloud-based payroll software providers available to South African businesses include Oracle, Xero, Sage, and SAP.

Is this new spate of "Best....in South Africa" articles an attempt at Toms hardware, CNet, PcMag...etc. traffic generation when you full enough articles Titled best you will appear in lots of search results when people are looking for something.

Judging by how little meaningful information actually goes into these my guess is that it is simply an attempt to give back to the companies buying ads so that they can say "mybroadband says we are the best" in their own marketing material.

I've only once had someone actually mention to me in a sales pitch that they rank somewhere on some mybroadband list. I laughed as the list is worth less than their flyer mentioning it.

How could you do this to me. This is hilarious.

You can't use Xero for SA payroll. It does not support our tax tables, uif and SDL.

Also no mention of the largest payroll systems used in small business.

Payspace
Simple Pay
Vanilla payroll

Sage has a Payroll & HR solution in the cloud which is really easy to use. The HR module has mobile app making it really easy to approve and apply for leave amongst some other nice features.

It's end of life, since this year. Sage is no longer doing regulatory updates for it.
You should look at their cloud solutions on Payroll and HR. Easy to use and fully compliant on legislative requirements.

They are not mentioned as they are not contributing to the RPM bread and milk fund. That or the intern who spent all of 1 minute copying and pasting this article failed to do any real research.

Talking about Xero, and I hope this is not considered a necro, has anyone set up Xero with FNB without using the login details that give full access?

Am I overthinking it? I can't add a secondary user as it needs to be someone with an ID and giving myself another account just smells of bad practice. On paper the below looks useful as I can give view permission but more importantly I could give Xero its own login details (and disable it in future if needed).

How has everyone else done it?

seems its the hosted option, not the on-premises ones, i cant seem to find anything current about a end of life message

I see Deel/Payspace is now also advertising on MBB. Looking at their pricing I want to fall over. Starting at $29 (just under R600) per employee per month. Also saw agrigistics which starts at R2000 per month (1 employee). How crazy it that? And then they brag about self service on whatsapp when thats now even included in some free payroll software.

You don't pay for the software, you pay for the marketing

Some companies pay R60k+ per month for payroll software.

I need to build a HRIS system. xD
