2020 Land Rover Defender (L663)

Except most Classic Defender owners can't afford to drop R1.2-1.4 bar on a Grenadier.

Don't kid yourselves, this is a rich man's toy, much like a Gwagon
Price wise it is same as new defender so both are out of reach for us mere mortals.

The 2023 Land Rover Defender 110 V8 Makes You Feel Special

Land Rover's flagship Defender is a beautiful farewell to big V8 SUVs.

A Fond Farewell

The Land Rover Defender V8’s best attribute is how good it makes you feel, and so much of that comes down to the supercharged engine. Does an SUV like this need more than 500 horsepower? Of course not, and Land Rover has perfectly lovely Defenders with four- and six-cylinder engines in its lineup.

But none of those make me smile like the Defender V8, and that’s something to be celebrated. One day, SUVs like this will not be around anymore. We should enjoy them while we still can.

Land Rover Designs New Roll Cage And Suspension For A Hardcore Offroad Defender: https://carbuzz.com/news/land-rover...nd-suspension-for-a-hardcore-offroad-defender

... The first patent details a roll cage right down to the spare wheel mounting, and the second patent involves a new bump stop design intended specifically for multi-link suspension systems used with a unibody vehicle, but specifically shows how this system would mount to a roll cage.

In combination, these patents indicate that a Land Rover Defender could be under development for off-road racing duties, because this particular combination of body construction and suspension design are key features of the new Defender. And, given the advanced development of these patents, it's not impossible that a new Defender-based contender could be entered into off-road endurance races such as the Dakar Rally or the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge very soon.

There isn't anything particularly noteworthy about the spaceframe's design, but the hydraulic bump stops are somewhat novel. ...

New Land Rover Defender SVX spotted with performance upgrades: https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/land-...ver-defender-svx-spotted-performance-upgrades

"... The big changes come beneath the window line however. The flared wheel arches are needed because they house some chunky BF Goodrich all-terrain tyres on a new alloy wheel design. The suspension has also been raised up for extra ground clearance and it’s almost certain the spring rates have been adjusted for off-roading too.

At the front there’s camouflage covering the front bumper and grille - suggesting this SVX model will gain a new face, in a similar fashion to the SVX versions of the old car. The front and rear lights look unchanged from the standard model.

The powertrain sitting underneath the beefed up bodywork is a mystery. The most obvious choice is the supercharged 5.0-litre V8 from the Defender V8, producing 518bhp and 625Nm of torque. Our images show a quad-exhaust tip set up, but the backbox looks different to the Defender V8 and the tips are set a little further back into the body work. Only time will tell if this Defender has actually made use of Land Rover and BMW’s engine partnership, borrowing the German firm’s 4.4-litre, twin-turbocharged V8. ..."

2023 Land Rover Defender SVX adds rugged styling and V8 power

British firm is readying a new range-topping Defender with a snarling V8 and rugged styling

Land Rover is readying a radical new range-topping version of the Defender to take on the Mercedes-AMG G500 4x42 – and it’s been spotted up close during its latest phase of testing in extreme winter conditions.

Expected to be the long-awaited spearhead for the dormant SVX sub-brand, the Land Rover Defender prototype was pictured in a 110-sized specification sporting a black and white camouflage livery with bronze exterior paint.

Our closest look yet of the upcoming car, the prototype was also equipped with specialised parts to protect the front bumper from damage.

Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations division (SVO) planned to launch the SVX brand for the most extreme reworkings of series-production models and to sell them alongside SVR and SVAutobiography cars.

The first model in this family was to be the 518bhp V8-powered Land Rover Discovery SVX, but that was cancelled in 2019.

DRIVEN: New Land Rover Defender 130 crosses country in supreme comfort

When the convoy pulled into the resort after a full day’s driving that required some serious concentration my body felt no different than what it did when I climbed in shortly after sunrise, a testament to the Defender 130 to be sure.

The new Defender 130 is unlikely to become the darling of overlanders but that’s okay, it still stands proudly among its peers and siblings as a Defender.
