Russia running the U.N. Security Council is going about how you’d expect

The United Nations is accustomed to oddity, absurdity and a certain amount of hypocrisy. But the eye-rolling is hitting epic levels this month as Russia has taken over the rotating presidency of the U.N. Security Council and used it to defend its war on Ukraine.

Another shot looms Monday, when Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is scheduled to chair a Security Council meeting on defending the principles of the U.N. Charter — a pact designed in part to prevent wars.

“They’re trying to troll us,” an American official familiar with the U.S. operations at the United Nations said in describing the Russian tactics. “They’re picking topics where they know some of their most egregious actions in this war are centered, and they’re trying to flip the narrative on its head. We’re not going to fall for it.”
It’s “a nasty moment of diplomacy,” added Peter Yeo, senior vice president at the United Nations Foundation who watches the world body’s proceedings closely. In the long run, he predicted, “I don’t think it’s going to go over well.”

Russian shelling as Ukraine forces reportedly cross Dnipro River

Russia has pounded the southern Ukrainian cities of Kherson and Beryslav, destroying about 30 buildings and injuring civilians, as a Ukrainian advance has been reported in the Kherson region onto the eastern bank of the Dnipro River (called the Dnieper River in Russia), which is controlled by Russian forces.

The US Institute for the Study of War said on Sunday that published geodata and reports by Russian military bloggers indicated that Ukrainian forces have taken up positions on the east bank of the river.

Now this is an interesting new development:

That is an old school trick which you can do with a thick blanket. It was already used by insurgents Iraq and Afghanistan. I think a blanket may work better since that silver blanket my still stand out on a hot day due to absorbing less solar energy than the surrounding area. O

First reported a while back. You would think by now that family, friends and colleagues would notice someone missing if this happened and it would be in the news. NATO is a collective organization and includes Hungary who have often spoken out against cooperation between NATO and Ukraine. I would think if Hungary were left out of the secret NATO meeting in Ukraine they would certainly be making a lot of noise

you truly believe their families, friends and colleagues will tell you the truth?
how old are you? today is your third birthday?
