Cool Ideas Fibre ISP – Feedback Thread 6

4K does the same.

Tested on Lan and wifi aswell no difference.

Doesn't look like is related to google cache either.
I saw bursts of 170Mbps on my stream, what speed line do you have?

Anyone here play Marvel Rivals? A game with no SA servers(no surprise) but the latencies are so weird. It seems to be routing through the Eastern part of SA rather than Cape Town.

Anyway to avoid this? The VPNs in the past never helped. Like Cape Town going through the East part of SA first then to Europe and NA can be brutal… even the Middle East server isn’t optimal there.

I’m guessing they’re google cloud hosted? I haven’t found the hostnames or IPs of the servers yet.
Speaking under correction here but pretty sure they hosted by Google so CT is

CT->JHB (Google) then Google takes its via their network so ->CT->West Coast so Belgium nets you about 180 to 190ms vs a normal one being about 160ms give or take to Belgium

Where are you located?

Marvel Rivals uses Google so all traffic is via JHB first.

Dammam is 120ms from JHB.
Correct found a thread speaking about it

It's probably just a youtube thing rather than an ISP thing.

I did some more testing and burst rate to line rated speed is steady since yesterday , It seems some sort of throttling or capacity issue who knows, but I will continue monitor also during peak offpeak.

Thx for this btw and yeah the VPNs do nothing. Tbf these servers are kinda chaotic for everyone in the world, most just play on the most populated servers regardless of latency anyway. Any other games you know of that use Google routing? Like to keep track of these things

Which VPN were you trying, UK or Madrid?
Also what region are you trying from?

The VPNs will only really benefit those whos traffic is picked up in CPT, to bypass Google's JHB POP, in my case World of Warcraft is using google cloud and using the Madrid VPN has made a big difference for me, posted the comparison a little while ago and have been using it every evening since then.

Comparison:

Thanks, there is a big latency improvement when using the madvpn over the default path.

Default: 193ms

MADVPN: 159ms

UKVPN: 169ms

At the time it was the UK VPN. Rivals servers seem just wierd for some reason. No way to change it even with VPNs. With WoW I’ve never had a problem from Cape Town to EU.

good morning, I am having problems with some international sites not working like speedtest.com, microsoft.com duckduckgo and more.

I am Randpark area coolideas/openserve

just to add openserve site is not working, maybe that's the problem

anyone else having similar issues?

Seeing same here, also Openserve.

Just restart your session, or router. We have implemented a workaround.
