Ask the dr to recommend a dietician. There is a cholesterol thread here as well where some experts know better than dieticians.

Mainly steamed stuff..chicken broccoli cauliflower and occasionaly lean mince..lots of provita with cheese

Stick to 'whole' foods as far as possible, cut out any processed foods, get Omega 3's in, add some fruit if not eating already and up the exercise. I presume you have been a prescribed a statin?

Did you go for a blood test & the doctor sent you the test results? Mind sharing Total / HDL / LDL / Trigl...?

Are you a fattie or not? If fat, lose it, and then monitor your cholesterol once you’re done losing weight. This is the most accurate way to track what your body does. Burning through your fat reserves wreaks havoc with short-term readings.

Everyone’s a bit different with regard to cholesterol. Some people say they can take dietary cholesterol without raising their blood cholesterol. Me, I can see it in my blood measurements when I’ve been pounding butter.

generally:
- depends how high those results are really, plenty of GPs will prescribe statins at the very sight of slightly elevated cholesterol which is absurd and entirely unnecessary
- cut carbs like it is the enemy (sadly most dietary advice you'll get for cholesterol will tell you to cut fat and take in even more carbs instead)
- get more active

My doctor told me the same. Sugar perfect, all other bloods perfect, cholesterol a mess :(

He wasn’t happy with Trigylcerides…

High triglycerides are basically a sign that your body is swimming in excess energy, mostly from sugars and refined carbs. When you eat more sugar than your muscles and liver can use or store as glycogen, your liver quickly converts the surplus into fat through a process called de novo lipogenesis. That fat gets packaged into triglycerides and sent into your bloodstream. So if triglycerides are high, it often means sugar is coming in faster than your body can burn it, and the liver is dumping the overflow as fat, a pretty clear hint that carbs (especially sugar) are overshooting your actual energy needs.
