What is the process of closing a VAT registered PTY.

Keeping up with the admin and SARS, CIPC, Business account etc. is more a pain in the backside than anything else. I regret having tried to do work in South Africa and it is only costing me money and time.

So in short... You will have to obtain a tax clearance certificate, which means that all your VAT201's and ITR14's have to be submitted up to date. After obtaining the tax clearance certificate you will need to go to CIPC and request that your company be deregistered, they will then request the tax clearance certificate to make sure that all your tax affairs are in order before they will green light your company deregistration. After your deregistration at CIPC is complete, you can use the documentation they gave you, to request deregistration at SARS.

Its a pain I know.

A pain but doable.

Do you have assets in the company? Will be deemed output vat, depending on the asset.

Thanks! This is helpful!

Too late!

Well, at least you'll get rich from the eventual lawsuits ...

Good luck, is all I can say. A painful process.

So looks like CIPC finally deregistered the company. (not to be confused for SARS!! SARS is a separate issue!)

Like many others, this orginization is completely incompetent. I followed the advise in this video after trying Option 2 for many years:

Still doesn't solve getting rid of SARS. But now at least they can't use CIPC as an excuse which was what they did up to now.
