Last month, Samsung jacked up the price of two of its flagship smartphones by $100. Now, its two new midrange models—the Galaxy A37 5G and Galaxy A57 5G—are getting $50 price bumps, despite minor hardware updates over last year's Galaxy A36 and A56. Samsung has also trimmed the lineup—there's no successor to the Galaxy A26 this year, at least not yet.

These price increases may be indicative of the economic climate, what with tariffs, higher oil prices due to the war in Iran, and the memory shortage that has driven up RAM and storage costs across the board. If a phone's price doesn't go up, it could still mean fewer meaningful hardware upgrades to keep costs down, very much like the recent Google Pixel 10a. (The outlier is the iPhone 17e, which managed to add features like MagSafe and a new processor, along with a few other upgrades, without a change to the price over the iPhone 16e.)

In other words the price of Lobola just went up. iPhone 17 if she is still a virgin. Samsung A37 if she comes with 3 kids.

So twice the price of the A57 but a very cosmopolitan and feminine phone it is.

If only the Xiaomi Poco phones were available in SA with local support and warranty. Freaking amazing phone this.
The Poco phones have far better performance that makes it worth the risk. I just bought a F7 Ultra for 12k, last year's model, but it outperforms the A57 by a mile.

Could've gotten the F8 for that price
Check this out on takealot: Poco F8 Pro 5G 12GB RAM + 512GB ROM - Parallel Import - Black

True, but the F8 only got released globally recently & there's some specs on the F7 Ultra that are better than the F8 Pro. Screen, camera, faster charging & slightly higher performance scores. The F8 pro has bigger battery, better speakers & eSim, none of which I care about.

I was thinking of upgrading soon. But no SD card slot or 3.5mm audio jack.. Still on my S10+

its a year where people really shouldn't give a rats ar5e what other people think and buy what works for their OWN circumstances without really giving a fark about any other cants on the internet asking what year it is

i mean you are free "do you" and no-one really will give a schit and likewise you are free to give a schit about what they do ..... it is definitely that simple unless someone is too stupid to actually understand this easy concept

No internet in the middle of the Karoo and no bluetooth on my Pioneer mixer or speakers.
Could be worse, you could be stuck with a A24. I bought one last year when my Note 8 wasn't getting DUO & I think SecureID updates any more. It's the biggest POS ever.

Problem solved.

Meh. Considered one of those adapters, but audio sux, especially since ALL of my music is hi-res .wav or flac. Been eyeing this out instead since I need a new DAC:

i won't dispute that the A24 is not a great phone but how much did you pay for it and at that time what could you have gotten at that same price that was better and which was easily available locally? Just curious

if you have a phone with no microSD card and no 3.5mm jack you can get this

single USB-C side into the phone and it gives you a connection for 3.5mm jack and then you can use the other USB-C to charge the phone or connect a power bank to continually power the phone while playing the music and use the USB-A to access a flash drive to retrieve music from and/or store external data, or maybe even small portable harddrives or SSDs for the cants who keep asking "what year it is"
