R3 fuel tax cut for South Africa

Watch the 3 min video? Looks okay after 20 000 passes and apparently performs better than the normal fixes.
few days ago already - again does actually solve the pothole problem? From the video it seems to work like a Band-Aid, but what about the underlaying structural issues.... oh wait just watch the vid right? that's what you got from this

Claude?

Better than nothing and fixing rims isnt it?

You'll probably get sued by the city if a citizen uses it so just make sure you do it at night when everyone is sleeping.

Sure, but I'm still curious what happens to the actual structural issues of the pothole. Its obviously great that something in the meantime / short time can be done about it. However, for example what happens over time to this?

edit
City has previously done so. No surprises there if it happens again.

Who knows. At least there is something to put in the hole while you wait 5 years for the city to repair it.

They did this before and there was no protest when they pushed it back up...you naysayers really are a glum bunch.

People losing their s**t on whatsapp groups in the area about filling up, stations running out, moaning about the high increase etc. etc.
I have to mute some of them.

Jisses mense, skrik wakker, you knew this was coming. I never fill up before an increase and even I have almost a full tank of petrol that's been in my car for almost a week because it made sense to casually do so given how much warning we had about this.

It's COVID k@kpapier all over again out there.

Eskom still uses diesel to power its Open-Cycle Gas Turbines (OCGTs), but consumption has dropped significantly due to improved generation performance. As of March 2026, diesel expenditure is below budget, with significantly lower usage compared to the 2024/25 period, aimed at maintaining system stability rather than constant, high-volume generation.
