I am using Afrihost as my ISP on Vodacom.

Yesterday, my internet went down. The Alarm LED on the ONT was red with connection LED off. I sent a WhatsApp to Afrihost support, they then logged a ticket with Vodacom and the turn-around time is 24 to 72 hours. After a while, I noticed that the Alarm LED went off and the connection LED solid green but still no internet. I did mention it to the support agent and they said they are working on it. My router is giving the following error:
Timeout waiting for PADO packets.

I have rebooted both the router and ONT multiple times. I have also tried resetting my PPPoE password but still getting the same error. I did contact support again today and they just said that Vodacom has a turnaround time of 24 to 48 hours, which is different from yesterday.

Good morning.

Please share the ticket reference you were given.

Good day,

Apologies for only replying now. My internet starting working Sunday night around midnight. The reference number that was given was: SR260221-097982

My internet did go down again today for about 10 minutes, again with the same error: Timeout waiting for PADO packets.

I did contact the WhatsApp support again asking for feedback and they just said, Vodacom gave feedback that the link is up. They also told me that that I need to follow up on the WhatsApp platform for feedback as they never just give feedback.

I still don't know why my internet was down.

Hi.

Please check and confirm if the connection has been restored.

Internet is down again with the same error. I have rebooted both my router and ONT but still no connection. This was the initial errors from my router. I have contacted Afrihost on WhatsApp, they are taking me through the normal troubleshooting steps. They also "Refreshed" my connection but still no connection. They also tried updating my PPPoE password.

UPDATE: Internet connection was restored around 17:20. This was after the Afrihost consultant told me that they will log a ticket at 17:02. The ticket number is SR260303-116763
Is it possible to investigate this a bit more, as this was now the 3rd time in about 2 weeks with the same problem.

This issue is still not fully resolved. Was working for a few weeks until today. Internet dropped 3 times today with the same error as above.

Still having intermittent internet connectivity issues. Afrihost support just says that Vodacom tested everything and the link is up. They are now suggesting it is my router, but I have tested with a different router and with my laptop connected directly to the ONT with the same results.

It seems like this issue will not get resolved.

@ShadowFire hey is your internet sorted?
No, still have the issue. The only feedback I am getting is that the ticket is logged and they are awaiting feedback from Vuma, ticket was logged last week.

Vuma did contact me to do a new installation, but I then told them that I already have a fibre that was migrated from Vodacom to Vuma, after that, I have not heard anything.

I did contact Afrihost again today and was told that they will escalate again and that I must wait for feedback.

No worries, you just need to wait for 4 weeks...
