Cool Ideas Fibre ISP – Feedback Thread 6

Knysna would connect via Cape Town.

Can you however share info on what issues you are having /seeing?
Exactly what Henrico101 is sharing above. No bandwidth and drops to all of the Twitch servers. They had been fine for years before and just recently started giving issues. We have the exact same problem, so whatever he is reporting and whatever problem you find for him will fix what I have.

That is clear, what issues are you experiencing?
Well, right now it's just the packetloss on my router from what I can see.

So when I stream to outbound servers on twitch, even local, i get intermittent drops where it completely goes offline. Then comes back. And drops again.

Happens at random when I'm live.

Generally, no. You should have no loss at the first hop unless it’s a false positive—maybe the UniFi device has ICMP rate-limit filter enabled. I’m not too familiar with the Ubiquiti range, but there are others here who use it that can advise you accordingly.

but your subsequent hops are clear so it looks like a rate limit and not a bad cable or faulty device
Thank you, any Unfi kings that can advise around? 👀

I would first say maybe try run only 1 pingplotter at a time. From the looks of your screenshot you could be running serveral from the tabs. Try run 1 with 2.5s interval. I find if i run my pingplotter on 1s with just 1 tab my router just stops responding to that first hop

Well the issues PBcool mentioned we were seeing, was limited to last night, cuently the examples provided by Henrico doesn't show any clear issues, hence any additional info is much appreciated.

We have a twitch relay for cases like this (http://twitch.cisp.co.za/), however Henrico mentioned he can't split Vod tracks for audio.

If you don't require Split Vod Tracks, have you tried our relay as yet?

You can both also try IPV6 as mentioned before too.

Are you also on Openserve?

Yeah that can also cause the Packet loss on hop 1, for context, this is my traces when I'm running 100+ targets - non-issue

Thank you, let me do this.
I appreciate it <3
Sorry, very new to networking stuff.

This gives me hope, let me run it.
Thank you so much.

Yeah, can confirm this has been fixed for me.
I just had some other nonsense issues that was not related to CISP.

I can try gather some more information for you. For me it works fine and is stable for a while then randomly starts dropping and sometimes even disconnects. I haven't tried IPV6 or the local relay just yet, can do that as well, thanks.

The path to Twitch uses a local peer which as mentioned is not something in our control, the work around is VPN or v6 for now. Its unrelated to the international loss we saw last night.

The fact is the packet loss is not carrying through your pingplotter so if you see it on your router you can ignore it.

If it were carrying through from hop 1 to the end hop then you could question it but because the last hope is clean from what i saw there is no issue other than your router saying its too busy to deal with saying hello every 2s or so. There are some routes where you will see 100% loss on like 5 or 6 hops straight but then it will show perfectly fine on the last 2 or 3 hops. Just means the router is ignoring the pings and focusing on its work

Is this for streaming aka watch me play video games world or you watching someone else?

Streaming (being the streamer) has always been international thats why most ISP's provide relays? You need to connect to an internatioinal server to broadcast

Streaming (watching) is served mainly locally via Cloudfront now i think it is

Yeah which makes sense, apparently the relays arent completely usable anymore.

And its typically windows poor attempt of scaling the TCP window.

Which is hosted by AWS from what I see on the default

It does have multiple DNS records so maybe changing your DNS servers has random changes to different hosts.

Anyone else having issues with Openserve being down?
Yes mine was also down last night from midnight. this has been happening a lot lately. I think this is Opnserve not cool ideas but funny that it was exactly midnight for me. So please can cool ideas get some explanation for us and investigate so the chances of it happe3ning again is minimized. They need to inform customers of maintenance if it was that before they do it cause let's say ytou are working from home and do night shift or have something important to do that time.

HI there, unfortunately we are waiting on Vumatel to upgrade the service, and was escalated yestrday.
This may only be actioned on Tuesday from Vumatels end.
Sorry to be a pain, but nothing's actually changed. I received a credit for the cancelling line, which has yet to actually be cancelled, but my upgrade on the new line (30/30 to 500/200) is nowhere.

The problem apparently sits with Vuma not answering the phone. How can we make them answer the phone (legally!)
