WATCH LIVE: Artemis Moon Mission Launch Feed Thread - 2026/04/01

Nowhere will soon be quiet and out of reach:
Programmes like the European Space Agency's Moonlight are planning to launch a network of satellites around the Moon to provide continuous and reliable communication coverage in the future.

What is the point of these missions? Fly around the moon then what?
Have you not been following. It's done in stages. The same thing was done in the Apollo program. They don't just do one mission and land on the moon.

Artemis II test SLS and Orion.

Artemis III will test rendezvous and docking capabilities between Orion and commercial spacecraft needed to land on the moon.

Artemis IV land on the moon at the south pole region and explore for water in the craters. There are craters in the south pole that have never seen the sun in millions of years so there is likely frozen water there. This can then be used for water, air, fuel for a moon base/future missions launching from the moon.

No I haven’t, I just get my updates from here. So when are they landing on the moon? Dont they have to launch that mission from orbit to save fuel?

This mission has been absolutely incredible so far. I have had the youtube live stream on 27/4.

The crew will experience something similar to this coming back down to earth.
