The control by Iran over the strait came from them blocking US-ally-bound ships. Iran was then making deals with US allies to let their ships go through. Those allies were never buying Iranian oil.

As I said, who cares if the US is blocking ships from Iranian ports.

Iran could allow only China-bound ships through, that buy from UAE and co. ports, and we'd be back to square one of Iran controlling the strait and picking and choosing only friendly states, and continuing to put pressure on US allies.

What's the point of the US blockade then? Iran is stopping everyone irrespective of where they came from and where they're going. The US blockade is lame and effectively useless.

Edit: maybe not completely useless, it's so that Trompie can claim that he allowed the ships through... :laugh:

Iran isn't stopping everyone, any ship that goes to an Iranian port can travel freely and it is those ships the US blockade is targeting.

Nobody was going through Iran ports anyway because of sanctions. Any ship getting through the US blockade means Iran allowed them through the first one. How hard is this to understand, the US one is useless, Iran still controls that strait...

So now Iran will just...block all ships again, and charge them a fee and nothing changes.

Well, instead of having to attack Iranian oil infrastructure, and destroy the potential future of civilians going forward, all they are now doing is stopping the transport of that oil, wouldn't you agree?

If you can't sell the oil, the regime can't pay the terrorist bills....
