Cool ideas vs Atomic Access? Moving because Afrihost customer service is just horrible

Why even ISPs needs a month notice to release the line anyway. Definitely they want to charge you for that month otherwise no obvious reason they need 1 month notice.

I'm in process with AH and is really frustrating....
Its not imposed by the ISPs but by the FNOs.

^ As you may have noticed, customer service from CoolIdeas is top tier.

The elephant in the room is that Cool Ideas is majority owned by Afrihost, although they do operate independently (at least for now). If Afrihost had to absorb Cool Ideas into their brand I would cancel immediately

Even why do FNO need 1 month cancellation time, they don't take that much time for new signups..
You're welcome to ask them, they unfortunately dictate certain things.

Its also to try and stop customers from using it as an on/off service as their models are all based on debt.

Aren't is ISPs who deal with FNOs not the end users /

Atomic is small and has the friendly nimbleness that comes with it, considering their scope is WC only. The fact you can say howzit to their technical staff/owners/whatever on their channel is a nice bonus, albeit something bound to die if things scale for them. They have the "be lekker" feel to them. YMMV

Their technical stance on Open Networking and the fact they shared such details, stand out from the rest.

Hi folks. I work from home and need a reliable ISP. I'm moving house and Afrihost have messed up the relocation order as apparently they can't provision the new line and no one asked me for updated documents to support the line relocation. This is the second time in a row they've messed up line provisioning for me and it was the last straw.

I'm Cape Town based and I've read a few good things about Cool Ideas and Atomic Access. I'll be using the ISP on top of Vuma. Do either of you have experience with these ISPs in terms of reliability and customer service? I need minimal ISP drop outs and fast answers if there is a failure so that I can mitigate it.

Thank you in advance.

Hi

The address has been cleared.

After struggling for day on end trying to get the address cleared, we managed to get feedback today that the address has been cleared. I wanted to place the order for you now but I see you decided to cancel instead.

So it ended up with Afrihost putting in all the manhours trying to get you sorted asap and finally got the address cleared and now the new ISP will simply place an order and have you up in 10min and Afrihost is seen as the guys that drop the ball. It's frustrating for you as a client and for us as an ISP.

Let me know if you still want us to activate the service for you? I can do it right now.

AfriGhost network is generally good when it works, which is most of time time. Just wish you don't ever need customer service.

It's a total ripoff. You basically cannot switch ISPs without paying and/or losing a day or two's internet access.

I understand your frustration but no thank you. Someone via Afrihost Whatsapp support actually helped me cancel yesterday. If they told me that the line was going to be cleared yesterday, I would not have cancelled. They told me that I should check back today and could not give me any indication as to when it would happen (understandably).

Why was it such a struggle?

Edit: And who ACTUALLY dropped the ball? I guess it's one of those questions that might never be answered.
