Evetech, one of South Africa's leading online vendors for PC hardware, says it wants to be a market leader in the technology running its back-end, not just in what it sells.

In 2026, the online vendor says it will continue to invest heavily in its internal systems, including its enterprise resource planning (ERP), customer platforms, and stock management.

I'm intrigued as to how a small PC retailer thinks it can play in the ERP/Stock Management/eCommerce space effectively, especially when their site isn't that fantastic from my experience.

Lot of people have complaints about these guys, been buying from them for years and have never had a problem, they are also consistenly cheaper than the alternatives. I suppose it comes down to personal experience, and I have just been lucky.

Lot of people have complaints about these guys, been buying from them for years and have never had a problem, they are also consistenly cheaper than the alternatives. I suppose it comes down to personal experience, and I have just been lucky.

They are cheaper because of how much they make screwing over other customers.

I think doing a PC retailer site is inherently difficult with all the combos etc etc etc.

Wootware's service is light years ahead of those clowns and the Evetech RMA experience is only slightly more fun than root canal sugery with zero painkillers.

Yeah. But I wonder now with AI if it won't be easier as it has a way of understanding context. I've achieved remarkable things this last while they would never have been possible couple of years ago.

I dunno tbh, AI has its uses and its place, but its not a fix for everything.

And an expensive product. If it is something that has on-site support or direct with the supplier , e.g Lenovo online portal, then it's not a big deal.
