OPEN LETTER TO MALLS: Car washers in public parking

This.

Also you reminded me, "staff should use the staff entrance, even if from Head Office."

Go fook yourself Sheila.
Err, I think you got the wrong message from what I'm saying there? Firstly I was addressing the senior centre management (doubtful the GM for Clearwater arrives in a taxi but who knows), and secondly the point of that line was that if the managers are parking in staff parking they may not be aware of the pain their approval of the carwashers is causing for every single one of their mall's clients.

never mind car washers, they don't bug me - one dirty look and they're gone.

it's that little MF with the ad pamphlets under my windscreen wiper, that gives me a blood pressure spike:mad:
I'm so happy this thread has given us such a valuable venting space. I'd personally love some mall management team viewing this to actually register a profile and give us their honest take on the matter, maybe they'll surprise us yet.

I can all but guarantee you didn't get in touch with a senior - who is often not located on-site anyway.

You need to contact the mall's owners (e.g. Growthpoint Properties, or whoever it may be), who likely barely even know where the mall is located, much less care.

Exactly, trust me I've contemplated these guys and gals scratching cars if they get angry at you not paying for a carwash. Who will be liable then? The mall? Good luck proving it.
Im thinking scoping up your car, whats in it, headlights etc.
Then phoning a mate....

Do these guys have some form of ID or is it just random characters mooching about asking if they can wash your car?

@Foxhound5366

take your car for a thorough valet closest to the most hated mall car wash.
then go to the mall.
head straight to the car wash.
tell them to wash & polish the car.
return to your car at the indicated time.
tell them they did nothing, or accuse them of just spraying a bit of water on it to make it appear to have been washed - tell them the car looks exactly as it did when you dropped it off.

i suspect they will avoid you and your car going forward !

this, maybe thats why they ignore me, or maybe they learned from the 100 times I already said no thanks
I never will buy their stupid car wash in a billion years.

You need to understand you don't need to head to the carwash at the mall. I'm talking about roving car washers inside the mall parking, who approach all drivers as soon as they park. They're all affiliated with Plush carwash at Cresta, not sure about Clearwater (I'm too busy running away to care about the branding).

Well Clearwater actually supplies their GM's email address right on their website, which I applaud them for. Cresta hides away and only supplies their marketing email address, which was the next best.

No, you get the "GM's" email address, very possibly handled by a low-level pleb. Much like when you mail an actor or singer or whatever you're actually mailing their agents.

My God dude,.are you always this negative? Like I'd love you to try say one positive thing here. I get it, everyone is a liar and the whole world is a ball of ****. Sorry for disturbing your death rattle.

So I sent the letter below to two malls exactly a week ago ... and got zero response.

Anyone else who feels the same is welcome to send this same email to them, or another mall in your area which is guilty of the act of welcoming shoppers with the refrain of "Carwash?" the very second you open your car door in the parking lot.
vibecode them away?

I usually tell these washers I dont need my car washed and they leave me alone though there are sometimes persistent ones . Last Saturday afternoon I was at Gateway Mall in Umhlanga in the covered parking and noticed a large area of the level I was parked on was covered with standing water from the many cars being washed at that time.

We had to walk through this water to get into the mall and my SO got her sandals and feet wet so had to do her shopping in wet sandals. I was using sneakers so was spared the discomfort.

Why? Because mall owners get paid by the companies providing these "services" to customers.

No other reason.
