Ramaphosa says Elon Musk is being dishonest by saying BEE is racist

So then during Apartheid WEEEEE-WEE was not racist either?

Cyril is a moron.

The governing party are doing what communists do. deflect and deny. A mirror is being held up to their faces, and people are catching on to exactly what their doing. You'll, of course, get the suicidal empaths who feel they deserve to be discriminated against. Let natural selection take its course there.
But having someone rather powerful point and call them out on this is great.

Musk does nothing but lie and all his companies are built on lies.

Black empowerment policies post 94 was necessary, imo.

The problem is that over time it has produced consequences that became a huge hindrance to economic growth, economic efficiency and job creation. It should have ended at least 10 years ago.

As with any policy, unless constantly re-evaluated and tweaked to produce optimum outcomes,it evolves into something that adversely affects everyone.

That's where we are now.
No it was never necessary. This is just cope. Without it the economy would have grown faster and the same or even more deserving black people would have gotten the jobs they did.

All the requirements that BEE put on business is a waste and takes money away from legitimate economic activity and growth.

Any person saying BEE was necessary is likely a beneficiary of it who doesn't deserve to be in their position based on merit.

And Cyril is correct here from a Liberal/statist point of view.

They start with the premise of all people are equal so in everything that people do you will see the outcome match the demographics of the area. And if it doesn't, if you don't see 90% black CEOs in a 90% black country it means there's some institutional problem(racism) preventing black CEO from succeeding, which could even be the ANC themselves it doesn't matter you just need more laws to try and equalize the outcome. (This isn't racism, it is fixing racism in liberal philosophy)

From a statist pov obviously SA needs to retain control of our own important resources so you need a 50% plus SA partner. We can't just outsource our communication to a foreigner.

Elon could simply stat publishing all the BEE laws for the world to see.
I'd do that
If Mr. Musk decided it was worth his time to put his energy into this I suspect that our local politicians would be in for a serious battle of wills. I don't think that he thinks it is worth his time though.

The reason why problematic race policies exist today,as they did pre 94 is because of self interests. Self interest is what prevents all the good things that we hope for, international law, global peace, end of bee etc.

But it doesn't end there, self interest is also what causes resistance to change, That's why the ANC keeps getting elected, that's why the UN hasn't ever changed its core policy and structural makeup....etc

What most people don't realise though is that this resistance to change is only sustainable for a while. The end result is always the same, upheaval ...a situation where there's little to no control over the outcome and direction of events resulting from that resistance to necessary change.

The government here pre 94 learnt this lesson, they resisted the necessary changes that could have completely altered the trajectory of the ANC and the country, instead they walked straight into a upheaval situation where they had little choice left.

It's always about sustainability, when something becomes unsustainable then change becomes necessary, when that change is not forthcoming then upheaval arises.

This applies to absolutely everything, including the ANC.
