The end times are nigh!!!

Pretty sure the studies/trials only made oblique reference to alcohol consumption as it relates to really heavy drinkers.... like... abuse level drinkers.

Additionally, it was not a core focus, measurable or finding in the studies... Only a self-reported observation which suggests some degree of correlation which any rational or responsible person would say "suggests further study required"

Science reporting is hard. Responsible science reporting apparently impossible.

"They can't stop the alcohol, Mal. Nothing can stop the alcohol!"

Ozempic (semaglutide) in South Africa typically costs between R1,200 and R3,200 per pen, depending on the dosage and pharmacy, with monthly costs often ranging from R1,500 to R3,000 for standard treatment. Higher maintenance doses for weight management can exceed R3,000–R6,000 per month.
I don't think the Ozempic crowd eats at Maccies.

I really have to wonder, the general populace are eating more. They are not the market for these drugs.

Wouldn’t it be exactly the other way around?

Because of the drugs they now do what they want and eat MORE fast food?

Not really you actually lose the taste for it, eating better makes you feel better vs eating fast food.

Nope. They work on the demand side of weight loss. You feel full very quickly.

Think about after a large family braai or Christmas meal. You are full. Then someone offers to order KFC. Even Khulubuse Zuma probably would say no thanks. The wonder of GLP-1 receptor antagonists like semaglutide is they give you that feeling after eating a very small amount of food.

The real interesting thing is that they also work for addiction for other substances.

So you can bet the alcohol and gambling industries will also suffer when Universal Basic Ozempic becomes a thing.

The actual chemical doing the work is going out of patent in a few countries like South Africa and India. India is already ramping up manufacturing.

In this article , they say a pen will cost about R230. Probably for 1mg. If you go for compounding, which is when you just inject the stuff with an insulin syringe, it will be even cheaper.
