Afrihost Wireless LTE and 5G Internet price increases announced

Afrihost has notified customers that the prices of its Pure Wireless products will increase on 1 June 2026. The prices for new customers have already changed on Afrihost’s website.

“You deserve to have the best experience possible, and this change will help make sure we can keep your Pure Internet Joy flowing,” Afrihost said.

@Jan @AfriGuy Please double check the pricing of the 100Mbps uncapped package. The article, and the mail I received from Afrihost today, both state the new price as R693. Afrihost's website shows the new price at R639.

They need to include the router for free on the cheaper packages. I was considering downgrading to LTE but I'm obviously better off sticking with fibre.

and suddenly yesterday all the capped options are gone and I cannot upgrade or downgrade any of my 4 capped packages that I have had for about 5 years ? No notification received at all.

Same here, but it makes sense as they no longer sell capped packages on LTE/5G, it's all "uncapped".

Problem with the uncapped products are that they become unusable after reaching the threshold, throttling a connection down to 4Mbps in 2026 is just pure @ss and borderline evil.

Not sure why they don't have an option where you can buy a data/speed booster of some sort where if enabled your speed increases again for another 100 or 200GB, this will make the product usable at least until the next month when it resets.

@Afrigirl it this permanent?

Hi. Yes, it is true.
The capped Wireless packages have been discontinued for new sign-ups and package changes (including upgrades and downgrades). Existing clients can remain on their current capped package, but once a package change is made, only the packages currently available can be selected.

Gee this is so depressing and irritating from what in my opinion has been one of the best ISPs over 20 years.
No notification of this and now i cannot upgrade any of my 4 LTE packages.
I have used 3 of them for backup options for all my fibre packages and now i cannot anymore.
I need to urgently look for other options from other service providers as i use the back up for security cameras alarms and remote smart switches.
Hope Afrihost can reconsider this absolutely terrible decision without any notification.

So I will keep my capped package? Hope so us the uncapped us unaffordable as as secondary connection
absolutely agree. I have 4 packages for over 5 years now and it has been very useful as I move the data around depending which fibre goes down and needs more data. Unfortunately i downgraded my one package last month to upgrade one of the others this month to keep the spare data in one package. I got the downgrade last month but now cannot upgrade the other one so will probably now need to cancel all 4 packages and move to another option. I hope they change this terrible decision.

@Jan is there an article on this latest development and that all capped fixed lte packages are not available anymore? This is a middle finger to those who wanted an affordable backups solution.

It is the way all corporates go. I hope things eventually crash and backfires in them. It is sickening. The throttling on these uncapped stuff doesn't make it worth it.

absolutely agree.
For the best ISP for 4 years running to do something like this without not even a days notification to those who have had several packages for many years ???
