Just when I thought Cool Ideas is the best.... they go an do this.

I like reading the complaints on this forum about price increases. I can simply look at what I pay (my ISP is not CISP before anyone assumes it is CISP) and wonder how people are complaining about paying R1400 for 1Gbps.

8 and a half/10 for their service. 6/10 for their support. I get a solid 10Mb, and the tower I am on has more than 24 hours worth of batteries, so I appreciate that.

While some pushback against 7%+ increases when inflation is supposedly super low is understandable, I also view it in this context.

I remember the days when R800p/m got you 512kbps ADSL (plus the analogue phone line rental) — and then you still had to buy cap. Adjust that for inflation from 2004...

Even when things started getting better with uncapped DSL, R1400 would maybe get you a 10Mbps, shaped, throttled package (more likely 4Mbps).

Being able to suck down Steam updates at 500Mbps for the same price is a dream come true.
 
Well they can keep on rising prices as much as they want. There will come a point when people will not be able to afford it anymore. South Africa is going backwards, not forwards. Keep hoping though.

Its all relative. The world has changed. Cost of living has sky rocketed, prices go up. Salaries don't

The monopoly FNO's need to be reigned in

Yes it's great that we no longer live in those disastrous capped ADSL days. But it's the principle. We can't excuse scummy FNO behaviour just because we had it worse before...
 
My 2 cents is I hate how they push the highest increases on the cheapest packages... I'm on a cheap package to keep my costs lower... I'm on a 50/25 which is more than enough I don't even move a lot of data but each year we get hit with the highest increaes generally

Dont increase my speed from 25/25 and tell me there is no increase. Then increase my speed and my premium and then go and not allow me to go back to 25/25.

Thats not fair!

I want consumer protection!
 
On a side note and leaving room for a constructive discussion while CI rectify the miscommunication:

Why would fibre companies remove the lower speed options and give customers less flexibility? What is the practical decision behind this?
