City of Cape Town’s fixed tariffs declared invalid and unlawful

Would be a grave error of judgement if they did, imagine carrying over this bad publicity to the elections, they should get over it fast fast.
Agreed. This actually helps the DA in a way as this won't be an issue come election time, and it's primarily their base who were up in arms about it.

So they can just call it a tax, and continue coining?

Or will they say "We've listened to the people and scrapped the levies?"

Those have to go through approval processed with community input. They don't just show up on your bill one day with zero say.

coct has been operating on a fait accompli basis for a while now - "if you dont like it, take us to court" attitude.

the chickens came home to roost.
both camps bay & sea point / bantry bay ratepayers associations have been hauling coct into court.
it takes plenty of money to do this, so the ratepayers associations have to reach out to residents for donations to fund legal costs, fortunately there are some deep pockets in the area.

in one of my public spats with the mayor / premier / steenhuisen, i reminded them their constituents are getting a little tired of instituting legal action against those we elected to represent our interests.
and now this !

the arrogance is bewildering.
da led w/c seems to be under the delusion everyone is going to go along to elections and dutifully place their mark alongside the blue.
there is a surprise coming in my hood - the natives are fickle, and becoming increasingly restless !

When are they taking them to court for not allowing R3k Axpert offgrid inverters?

Lol. The Camps Bay/Sea Point area is one of the strongest DA areas in the entire City. Even if there is some dissatisfaction, it won't be sufficient to change the political arithmetic in the area. They don't really have anyone else to vote for, especially since they are Engels, FF+ won't appeal to them.

As we will find the FF+ gaining momentum in DA strongholds, it’s a pity Paul Jacobson pulled out of politics.

Huh? When did that happen? He was still pretty vocal on social media till very recently, and isn’t he a FF+ councilor in Sea Point?

About a month ago sadly. Love him or hate him, his heart was in the right place. I think he’ll be back once his children are older.
