No. They shouldn't be on the streets at all. Races are for race tracks.Hectic.
Street racers should keep those races for 2-3am rather, little to no objects on the road then.
who is going to pay for all that ?This problem has been going on for many years and would be so easy to fix if CoT wanted too. TMPD deployment every weekend night. Speed bumps. Probably other things too.
I'm not sticking up for the cops, but often these drag racers use private property to host their events. so their hands are tied.where are the cops in these situations?

If you lurk at one spot they move to another.
Not likely, the radios the police use are scrambled/encrypted. Can't be picked up by any 2 way radio.
It's the same everywhere, they are probably congregating in 6 cars at the next street. Not sure how it is in Pretoria, but if this were Cape Town you can be sure they'd be monitoring the schit out of the situation... probably from about 50km away, donut in hand.
I remember when the Du Noon guys were burning trucks on the off ramp... cops monitored the hell out of that.

Illegal street racers were stopped in their tracks in Bellville South, where two drivers were arrested for reckless and negligent driving during an illegal gathering of about 500 spectators. Five more motorists were arrested for driving under the influence.
In the past week, the City’s enforcement agencies made 374 arrests, recorded over 65 000 traffic transgressions, impounded 142 public transport vehicles and recovered multiple firearms and stolen vehicles.

I do agree but not so easy.. A lot of race tracks are privately owned so it costs money to use the track. Not only that, the tracks are governed by Motorsport SA. So to use the track you need an MSA license and insurance and marshals, first aid fire fighting etc. Non-compliance will cause these tracks to lose their good standing with MSA. Street racers will simply not pay for it and continue to race illegally. They should go to the race track.
"On Saturday, 2 May, officers in Gugulethu arrested a 2-year-old for the possession of a prohibited firearm and 14 rounds of ammunition."Meanwhile, in Cape Town...
