@Afrigirl does any of the posted ping or tracert results perhaps help to identify or pinpoint the issues perhaps?

Hi.

Vodacom needed the test, as they were not seeing the issue on their end.
I'm not very clued up on internet here, but doesn't the tracert show that the problem is inside afrihost network not within vodacom?

edit: If the problem was vodacom, e.g. the mobile network part of the service, wouldn't the issue show up whether I ping 1.1.1.1 or whether I ping 8.8.8.8? It doesn't, the problem follows pinging 1.1.1.1 only. If the problem is vodacom, surely "everything" would be bad, with inconsistent speedtest results, etc., but it's not, it's limited to certain traffic?

I literally just did a speed test on my Iphone 12 with a Vodacom Sim. Iphone 12 is honestly nothing special. First iteration Iphone with 5G on it.

Pings straight to Cape Town with 20ms latency. Download speeds over 600 mbps.

All this on 3 bars.

Hi.

Vodacom needed the test, as they were not seeing the issue on their end.
The issue is within the APN, normal vodacom is like 5 hops to cloudflare 1.1.1.1 , Afrihost is 14.

Here is my 5G VPN'd to my house on Afrihost Fibre

1 43 ms 40 ms 39 ms .ahisp.co.za [165.
2 38 ms 53 ms 41 ms 1.ip.ahisp.co.za [

14 hops for what takes me 5 hops via the 5G VPN'd to my fibre and this is even with the connection going DUR-> JHB -> DUR ->

18 days later I got the sim card delivered, I will come back here with results on performance when I have the time

Also ping sitting at 73ms on a 5G service up to 20% packet loss at 168 times in one day according to my Unifi router

Cancelled this service and moving to Cool Ideas as of this week.

Had enough of this poor service

I agree. I'm cancelling mine 15th of next month. Btw guys when i ran the script I saw on the GT5S CPU temp was over 70.C.

It's been freezing cold as of late and still hits over 70.C. No wonder they have a temperature toggle setting. This router might just burn your house down. 🤣
