Cool Ideas Fibre ISP – Feedback Thread 6

Hey @CoolEscalator

I kept a few tests running in the background throughout the day, and happy to report that from 6:30pm to 9pm the connection was rock solid and speeds were consistent. International latency is also back to normal.

Thanks again for following up!

(I kept pinging about 8 IPs/DNSs during that period, and interestingly there are still two that give me constant timeouts/dropped packets: anything speedtest.net related (ie. 104.20.34.25) and Vox Cpt (102.39.55.241). Not seeing any issues with Cloudflare, Google, AWS JHB, AWS Cpt, CI Valve Cpt/EU, etc. Just thought it would be worth sharing.)

HI there, thank you for reverting back and confirming all is now in order.
I will be sure to let them know :)
Hi @CoolEscalator, my problem of no fiber connectivity is back. This time, in addition to the "Power" and "Ethernet1" lights staying on, the "Broadband" light slowly flashes on and off. The "Service" light is off.

I've logged #COOL-20260515-2672239.

Is it possible that my ONT is faulty?

Thanks.

HI there, I'm sorry to hear that. I see our team has logged the issue with Vumatel again.
Yes its possible the ONT can be faulty, however I would not jump to that conclusion yet.
Apologies for the reoccuring issue, our team will keep you updated :)

Thanks, @CoolEscalator. Seems to be fixed now.

Watching live streams on Youtube is messed up again.

Edit: Perfectly fine when viewing via MAD CPT VPN.

Edit2: Seems fine again now. Was similar to 3 weeks ago.

Nope, it's gone again. This time, the "Power", "Broadband" and "Ethernet1" lights are all on. "Service" is off.

<sigh>
Yeah so this is now an intermittency issue, so we will report it as such.
Please do report this via your ticket as well, as our team requires these updates as well.
For now, I have added your feedback on the ticket already, and we will update your vuma ticket accordingly

High latency high packet loss to Europe - Mainly wow servers that I notice it griefing me.

HI there, thanks for reaching out, I'm not seeing the same on our monitoring for WOW, but my best guess is you are havign the same issues as @Chris_Auc and @Brenvh (seems to affect most of our MFN customers) . There is currently a link upgrade in progress that needs to be finalaized. Which we suspect is the cause of the peak time packet loss.

MFN has not given us an ETA as yet, however we have pushed from our side to get it prioritized .
Your time and patience is much appreciated.

Are all the current issues related to the link upgrade. Connectivity, especially to nodes, are borked. Even to Valve's servers I am having 50-70% loss, and complete timeouts. All other services are struggling.

HI there, nope, that doesn't seem to match up
For example, this is the evening so far, I have not yet seen the regular impact as yet, apart from a blip around 18:20
Its actually looking a bit better compared to last night.

If you are experiencing something else, its likely not related/a separate issue

Can you provide more info /or traces/ speed tests, etc so that i can have a look?
