Extension of the R300 highway Cape Town

this is just insane...the amount of traffic travelling where they are going to work is just MASSIVE....
Well from what I understand, they will divert traffic to Legato and need to build Ammadeus road before starting the construction. They will only close Langeberg towards the end of construction after Ammadeus road is built which would take the role of Langeberg.

I am just trying to understand if Sonstraal Heights residents would be able to access Goedemoed road via Langeberg still after it is closed. Or would they have to go via Brackenfell Blvd? I am thinking If they only close at the robots at Sonstraal then it means Sonstraal residents can still get to Goedemoed and Goedemoed residents can still get to Sonstraal without needing to travel via Brackenfell blvd.

At least it will be organised and not like the death trap we have here in KZN. Also it won't run overtime and there will be no corruption involved. You people just like to moan about everything.
I am one of the few not moaning about the R300. I just want to understand the flow of traffic and how it affects me.

I love the idea that it would take only a few minutes to get onto a highway.

4 or 5 years is nothing to be honest. It will get better. Here it never ends due to the excessive corruption and incompetence, construction and truck mafia and and and....

Unfortunately its all about demographics. The north is big on families with kids. First thing any of my friends do when you mention going out is ask if there is a play area in the restaurant. The Franchises capitalized well on this. Stellies has much more variety because of the students. Town has much more variety because of the lack of kids in the area compared to the North.

Fortuners/Kways/braai kamer and places with a kids play area's .....thats the boerewors gordyn for you
I might be misreading this, but you saying this as if it’s a bad thing. I love nothing more than going to a wine farm or restaurant and seeing young, nuclear families with a lekker haul of kids, and then hearing them not speaking some foreign language. I’m so glad the lack of breeding amongst the white middle classes seem to be coming to an end, both here and it Europe. There may be hope still for civilisation.
Do you think they gonna need to build a wall round this one too?
Hopefully they have learned their lesson with the N2, and will build the wall into the original plan. If it’s there from the start, then no one will have an issue with it. The walls are also there for noise pollution mitigation over and above their regular safety role.

White people do need to do more of the sex. I agree.

What I meant with my statement is that the lack of small, boutique, craft, unique, variety places in the north is because of the demographics. That's pretty much it.

Is it a bad thing? That depends from person to person. For me, yes as I liked and miss the variety I used to get in town. But that's on me for buying a house in the north. For the majority in the north that was never subjected to that type of variety, no.

For now, at least we have the wine farms. But they are also turning into estates rather quickly making the North father for wine farms in the future.

Yep, as long as they do it the proper “white people” way - A long with marriage, stable households, planning for proper education or the kids etc - fortunately it would seem the residents of the north, and Stellenbosch (where we live), are doing it that way.

I hear you, but I don’t think the need for family restaurants is the reason for franchising taking over. It’s more economics than it is demographics. Margins are stupidly tight in the restaurant business, especially if your main product is food instead of booze. Franchises help lower that opex aspect of the restaurant game. Landlords are also partly to blame. They want franchises over family shops all day every day.

There is no reason you need to be a franchise restaurant in order to be kid friendly and have a play area. At the same time, play area or not, Bossa and Hennie’s are not exactly what I would call family friendly anyway. They are glorified pubs, and I wouldn’t make a habit of going there with my kids.

I don't feel like reading this thread from the start again and it's been a long time since I read this. Is this a SANRAL project?

Edit: NVM, I read the blue bit above.
