I know someone who recently opened a barber shop. To get the AA/BEE compliance right to open he eventually had to pay experts who do nothing but this around 60K to do all the paperwork for him. Such a massive overhead to just start up a business. It really destroys business confidence and entrepreneurship.

I Think that many people do not realise that even if BEE was implemented 100% according to it's intended purpose, without any corruption it would still be a net negative on any businesses bottom line.

Add to that the fact that the way it is done in the majority of cases is to enrich the elite and you know why SA has close to 0% economic growth.
