Which computer game have you invested the most time in?

Question. Are the gamers adults and all IT people? I am yet to come across an adult in other fields who play computer games.

People who grew up on Famicom/SNES, Playstation 1/N64, etc. grew up and still play games because of it. The older generations never really had the greatest games, though that is a bit of a lie because the Sierra games like Space Quest were a lot of fun.

I would never do 1000 hours, impossible. I get bored with a game very quickly, I usually tap out at like 20-40 hours, most I did was like 80 or so in Persona 4 Golden.

Diablo 3 and 4 probably. Was big into Heroes of Newerth for many years, but lost interest in that genre of game.

Don't have stats on hand but I imagine that 3 games I have over 1000 hours in.

Rome Total War (with mods)
Diablo II
Civilization IV

Dota, Unreal Tournament, Counter Stike, Tony Hawk Pro Skater

None of the guys I play games with are in IT including yself. Some of their professions: commercial fishermen, handymen, mech eng, car sales, diesel mechanics... Better to be playing online games with your mates between 8 and 10pm than watching TV.

Ha, I’m the only IT nerd in my clan.

The rest are lawyers, accountants, fintech bros, some I don’t know what you call them even, graphic designer types, chemical engineers it’s all over the place.

And we’ve been at it for just about 20 years together. There’s also probably a 20 year age variance between oldest and youngest.

Diablo 3 was one, Civilization series of games over the years, Galactic Civilizations as well. I like 4x games :-)

hard to remember but ones I loved and played a lot of tomb raider from legends onwards, the puzzles and frequently dying got me,
watch dogs from 2 and legion onwards, Starcraft 1 and 2 and I was a massive Tiberium wars and renegade fanboi,

not to mention GTA 5 and San andreas, easily played more than 50 hours all combined,

Football manager 2014 3k hours. I might have double the time in Football Manager 2011 but it was not played on steam.

Nope in Insurance all my life and hence I need something to switch off from it. I am also now 63yrs old...........

I only play one game now PUBG PC as it's the most realistic.
I used to play Sniper Elite till I got shut down and accused of cheating - which I wouldn't do or wouldn't know how to load a cheat. I then switched to PUBG.

Huge amount of cheaters, my hate in life, but there's nothing better than beating them with their cheats.

Falcon 3 and 4.
Operation Flashpoint -> ARMA over the years.
Football Manager over the years.
XCOM over the years
Total War over the years
Rimworld
Project Zomboid

Probably not anywhere near a 1000 hours for any of them.

The responses are unexpected. There is a whole world out there I've not been exposed to, or is it a cult? Strangely my peers play sports, none I know do computer games. Maybe we are a non-conforming cult  :p:X3:

Many more games below, including a lot of VR so atleast a percentage isn't sitting at my desk. I enjoy variety much more than sticking with a single game. Doesn't include a ton of WoW.

As for friend demographics it depends on which game as some only do WoW, or FPS, RTS, etc.
While it used to be mostly tech folks it's changed over the years to the following regulars:

Attorneys, IT, architect, finance director, sales, mechanic, software developers, farming, vehicle modifications.
Also, some of their kids are joining in as well as spouses at times.
Ages range between 17-46

It's a great social hobby and all of these games are played with friends, though I absolutely enjoy some SP titles like the Resident Evil series, Dead Space, etc.

Would like more RTS (AoE4) enjoyer friends as it's such a magnificent game, but unfortunately only have 1 of those who isn't around a lot. So I watch AoE4 mostly and play a private match once a month.
