Ghana parliament passes anti-LGBTQ+ bill

Our government will make a big noise about Palestine but half of Africa are hanging gays like its Iran fashion week.

It does not align with our constitution and is even protected - but we are best friends with some of the most homophobic hell holes (no pun) on the planet.
No jews, no news.

Oh my.
My list of prohibited acts will be somewhat lengthy and comprehensive.

I'll title it: "the curious misadventures of a wayward homosexual"
I should probably include an Excel spreadsheet as well as a Powerpoint presentation.
No they mean its required to report on homos if you find out they are homo-ing. You can get charged with the same crime if you find out someone is a homo and don't report it.

Quite insidious.

but make your sheet anyway 😉

Africa has been like this for a while, only that anti LGBT laws are getting harsher and harsher. Wish people saw through the nonsense and actually paid more attention to how most African governments fail to deliver even basic services to their people, while billionaire/millionaire class of each African nation lives cozy, and most likely also has members of the rainbow community who can enjoy some vitamin D, bussy or the kitty under wraps. Call it African feudalism - a few rich and connected African families stay above the fray while everyone else is led to believe that the most important issue is culture wars.

84% of South Africans are Christians. Government is made up of such people. You talk to people you know in private and you will realize that most won't exactly oppose such kind of laws. Of course, no one will openly support hanging gays but criminalization of gays & lesbians - they would support it.

Why not a book? The Big Hol of Cape Town has a nice ring to it
a book ??
i'm not going to try document your achievements and conquests in the 3rd class public toilets along our country's rail network.

and no "The Big Hol of Cape Town does not have a nice ring it it" - it sounds rather hollow

In an address to parliament, the bill's sponsor Reverend John Ntim Fordjour said it would protect Ghanaian family and cultural values.

The very good reverend:

Love thy neighbor
Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged.

you must !

Perhaps make a video of all your crimes
I fear that may trigger the good reverend Fordjour into frenzied bouts of self pleasure.

. . . .and the congregants whilst waiting for the sermon to be delivered by the good reverend, were startled to hear the cries of a choirboy from behind the organ shouting "faster pastor, faster pastor !!

That's why we have our constitution, it protects us from those who would use Democracy to terrorise others.

Ghana is also a democracy though. Their constitution allows it apparently. I mean for some here, current government is nuwe apartheid government so it depends on who you talk to, right ?

Ghana is considered one of the most stable and enduring democracies in Africa. Under its 1992 constitution, the country operates as a multi-party republic and has held consecutive, competitive elections and peaceful transfers of power between political parties for over three decades.

Sure.. and I don't think we are the gold standard either. There is plenty to poke and prod at re free speech.

I think this will be a test for Ghana, they have chosen this path and its going to get a reaction internationally which will affect them.
Business and tourism will be affected, perhaps they were anyway but now you know its going to be a problem visiting the country.

There is no good reason to criminalise what consenting adults do in the privacy of their own bedroom.
We have proven the case (in SA at least ) that there is no downside to letting people live as homosexuals.
