Openserve 1Gbps home fibre launch date revealed

Telkom's wholesale division, Openserve, has confirmed that it plans to launch its first 1Gbps fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) product within the next few weeks.

Although the fibre network operator (FNO) is one of the largest FTTH providers in South Africa, it has yet to offer gigabit speeds on regular home fibre connections.

Hate to break it to you, but no matter how much bandwidth you have it won't magically fix your wifi signal.

Try explain this to the neighbourhood WhatsApp groups who always ask, "Is anybody's WiFi down?" and then get upset when I comment, "My WiFi is fine, my internet is not..."

I don't need it but I want it.

On Openserve through CI it's 19% more money to go from 100 to 200 and 17% more money to go from 200 to 500
Looking at Vumatel it's 20% more to go from 500 to 1000, so hopefully it's a similar gap and not 50% or something.

Good Wifi is not that expensive anymore:

you just need to use well priced business gear and place the APs in the right spots.

Also, Run a cable to your Router.
