You must go to Dwaalboom...

Bevolking

Volgens die sensus van 2011 het Dwaalboom toe 586 inwoners gehad van wie amper 63% swart was en amper ’n derde wit. Tswana was die grootste huistaal met 220 sprekers en Afrikaans die naasgrootste met 202.

Prince Albert. Stopped there for something to eat before climbing the Swartberg Pass last Saturday.......never ever wanna see that "road" ever again....

If you're driving it's probably ok... you're eyes are only on the "road"... so you don't have time to look down........

As a passenger for me it was terrifying. 24 km's of gravel path/road I never want to be on again.

Nope nope nope.

Friemersheim.
The artist behind Friemersheim's famous open-air gallery is Fourie Ackermann, a former film industry scenic artist. He has turned the rustic Western Cape village into a major tourist destination by painting large, vibrant murals of African wildlife—such as buffaloes, zebras, and dancing elephants—directly onto the walls of local homes.

Nigel but 35 years ago . because there was only 1 traffic light in the whole town

Kleinzee... back when it was still a town.

I have a soft spot for Calitzdorp as well.

I wanna check out Kleinsee. Stumbled upon while checking the coastlines on Maps.

That and Rietfontein in that long extended appendage in the Northern Cape just because they look so isolated.

Back in the day Kleinzee was a restricted area and you had to get permission to go within 60km of it. We visited friends there while they were working on the mine. It was idyllic and kids played on the street, zero crime and everyone knew each other.
I'm not sure what is happening there now but it looks like you can just go there, not sure who even lives there now.

Its very remote but I know someone was trying to turn it into an exclusive estate... which I hope they do, last I heard it was becoming very run down.

EDIT: Plenty of other Northern Cape towns I want to check out... the more isolated the better.

Stellenbosch and Montague in the WC.
