Nothing to do with hunting.
Was a very angry bull, not a cow.
Likely a handgun, or at least semi-automatic firearm involved trying to stop a rampaging bull that charged out of a truck.
At least three shots fired in a chaotic scenario with many people and vehicles around.

looks like it... two seperate inccidents, both with the same outcome, animal goes wild and has to be put down.
Someone could have been hit in this case as well.

I actualy think its the framing of the story from the accused.

Also, they are talking pot shots at a wild cow in a field, "hunting" is a best effort description.

What on earth is a “wild cow farm”? If you farm with cows, I hardly think it’s fair to call them wild, and if you are referring to feral cattle, then it’s not farming.

I think in terms of farm they mean like a plot with free roaming cattle, not a functioning cattle ranch.

Police are investigating after a 12-year-old girl from Krugersdorp was fatally shot during a hunting trip on a farm in the Free State.​

According to Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring, speaking on behalf of the office of the Provincial Commissioner in the Free State, the girl’s father and the man were hunting on the farm on the morning of May 29 when he allegedly discharged a firearm, fatally wounding the child.

The girl was rushed to a local hospital for medical treatment, but was declared dead on arrival at about 09:00.

Well guns is inherently bad as it can kill, but so can any other item found in world used in that manner.

Hunting why not but as I said then why are people paying where there are people shooting - it's not safety first and then no one should be suprised otherwise, right? It's obviously god awful but...

I'm no expert on these traditional sacrifices, with a very brief Google search it seems like there are hundreds of incidents globally during these rituals, and the sacrificed animal should be killed with a blade as that's part of the ritual, so I think the above-mentioned article is missing a lot of context and sequence of events.

While im sorry the kid died, when you see a **** show like that then its no suprise.

Next time get your meat at Spar.

Absolute effing savages, no real 'hunter' would ever condone this. And secondly, to discharge a firearm and then slaughter an animal in public is completely illegal.

Only wish that bull had killed the entire crowd of adults.

If you want to hunt, do it respectfully.
