Can you play downloaded single player PS3 games without internet?

Piracy would be the best way experience the entire ps2/ps3 catalogue tbh.
Anyone and their grandma can get this working by following a simple guide

Spawn Wave briefly covers the availability or lack there of due licensing agreements lapsing etc

Doom, ratchet and clank series, GTA 5, need for speed, Batman Arkham city, the last of us, far cry.

Those should keep you busy for a while in addition to the ones in your list.

Decided just to go with a PS3 and buy all the cheap PS3 games that are available.
Also figured the PS2 graphics are dated now and the PS3 offers better gameplay as well in many games and can just download whatever PS2 games are available that I might like.

This is just to tide me over while I'm stuck at home for quite a while with nothing to do, so no point in buying a PS4 or 5. Old school gamer though, so if I really get back into the groove of gaming who knows.

Ok now let me give you a piece of advice, don’t go clutter your house with old ps3 games.

Mod the console so that you can play entire library or most of the popular titles of an external ssd/hd.

You won’t regret that, clean, neat and cheap.

PS3 for me. Ps2 and ps3 I remember fondly as it was about the gameplay. There are lots of games you can get that are many hours of enjoyment.

360 also did well though and by the end was a serious option but I feel much of that was due to the store and not physical media so I would sway to the ps3.

Ps3 was inferior on most third party games, only benefit it has was the bluray player.
But for gaming the 360, better third party support
 
At this point you're a much more decent fella than most of us.

We would just grab a firmware that allows playing of backup games, Flash it and download the ISO's and never mention that we are playing using a modified console.

That was mostly due to the store though which is dead now. So unless you go the pirate route I'd say the ps3 is the better buy today.

Nope, graphics were better and games ran better, but yeah the store is closed so that side of things he will just need to move on,
Honestly if he wants to go that generation just get an Xbox One S, it will play Xbox games, 360 and One games.
Plus prices aren't much more than a 360 really

Hey!!!! My PS3 is still stock with loads of legal games on it. With over 100 legal disc games under it.

Just ignore the PC with thousands of ROM's spanning generations next to them.

Still considering the PS3.

If you guys had to choose between the 360 E and 360 S which one would you take.

I know the S fixed the RRoD issue.
