And they should get a damn liquor licence so they can start selling dop too!It would help if most of the stuff they sell on their damn website isn't out of stock. Fix that first.

The issue I have is they are coming in low to get everyone to move over and to kill takealot but as soon as takealot is dead and there is no real competition they will send prices through the roof. Common tactic for big monopolies.
Takealot could compete, though we both know they probably won't... that's not the SA way.The issue I have is they are coming in low to get everyone to move over and to kill takealot but as soon as takealot is dead and there is no real competition they will send prices through the roof. I think it really depends on the items.
How long do you think Takealot will profitable for if they don't start competing? The difference is most SA companies prefer running profitable businesses.
Amazon doesn't mind running at a loss for years on end as long as they're acquiring more customers. Then when everyone is using their service they can start raising prices and get to profitibility.
I just don't see a scenario where they can compete in that race. They cannot afford to run at a loss for an extended period of time hoping that they'll turn a profit eventually, Amazon will win that race everytime. How long do you think Takealot will profitable for if they don't start competing?
Ja but when takealot inevitably moan about it they must also remember they've been gradually paving the way for customers to seek alternatives. They've been unwilling to regulate the tactics of their sellers and people are gatvol of the price gouging and fake goods. The issue I have is they are coming in low to get everyone to move over and to kill takealot but as soon as takealot is dead and there is no real competition they will send prices through the roof. Same fake goods are on Amazon.Ja but when takealot inevitably moan about it they must also remember they've been gradually paving the way for customers to seek alternatives. They've been unwilling to regulate the tactics of their sellers and people are gatvol of the price gouging and fake goods.
AWS is the reason for that, this retail stuff is hardly making money.Amazon doesn't mind running at a loss for years on end as long as they're acquiring more customers. Then when everyone is using their service they can start raising prices and get to profitibility.
Ive noticed lately with Amazon the same starting to happen. Eventually there will be no difference and it will all come down to who has the best aftersales support. At least with Amazon you can filter Sold By Amazon to filter out some of the junk. Takealot made it difficult to spot when you deal with a third party or grey imports.Ja but when takealot inevitably moan about it they must also remember they've been gradually paving the way for customers to seek alternatives.
