Have you ever been to an airshow?

What was your most epic airshow experience or display?

Other: Yes - I've been to a couple.

Been to a couple when I was younger. Nowadays it doesn't really interest me.

I live near an airport that does airshows though and I can watch from a distance. Some airshow planes fly over my house :)

Yes and I don't go to the shows because:
Nothing I haven't see before or flown in (older models)
See what shyte can go down and very quickly
It reminds me of what we had and haven't got now

Most memorable one I recall was in late June 2008 in central London for the queen's birthday parade. Was an epic one. We had zero idea all that was even on. Had arrived in London to visit my wife's best friend the week she gave birth to her first child and to help out. They were in hospital getting stuff sorted on the Saturday so they said we should go down to London to see the sights. Figured we would walk around and see the changing of the guard. Were tons of people in London but as outsiders we had no idea if this was normal or not. Asked a police man where the changing of the guard was normally held and he said there was none today as today is the trooping of the colours. I had zero idea what that meant but figured may as well watch that thinking it was the concession prize (lol). It was only then that our clueless selves figured out we had lucked out and walked into a huge parade, air show, etc. Hundreds of times bigger than the changing of the guards! Saw the queen roll by in her carriage and everything.

Went to the Virginia Airshow in Durban when I was a teen, they had the cheetah do a flyby.

Went to a few over the years at Ysterplaat and also one one year in Bredasdorp I think it was?

"On the 27th September 1996 tragedy befell the Club when aircraft tail no. 7156 crashed in Pietersburg where both pilot and passenger were unfortunately killed."
I was there that day, and never went to another one. The passenger's wife and kids were standing right in front of us.

I was at the one in 1993 where the impala crashed at Lanseria and the one where the Spitfire crashed at Wonderboom.

One of the first I went to had a B1 bomber and F16 flying. The F16 was awesome and the B1 bomber was one of the greatest things I have ever seen.
Went to a few afterwards again, but its just not the same, so skip them these days.

Went to the old Virginia airshow in Durban a few times great fun.

Most epic was the Farnborough airshow in the UK in the early 2000's.

went to one as a kid, Plane went down, pilot didnt make it
zwartkops?

went to a pta one a few years ago, wasnt too bad, alot of walking

I would always go to the AAD shows and Air Museum ones but not so much in the last few years with our declining airforce and planes like the Aerosud Mirage F1 and the black Mirage III no longer featuring, along with the Hawker Hunter and Blackburn Buccaneer.

IIRC the Swartkop show was this past weekend? Interested to know what the lineup was like.
