Took them in total over two and a half years to issue my ID, during that time there wasn't a single instance where there wasn't a work around that prevented me from getting anything done, even with half the corporate world not accepting legally issued temporary ID's. and during that time, I only had one temporary ID which was a waste of money.Just set a final deadline date and stick to it. If any poor soul still doesnt have it by then, then they need to put their life on hold and go visit the 5 star Home Affairs accomodation for a day or two.
Good - always misplacing mine. Hopefully they'll just let people use their passports (like they used to).Ramaphosa also said that government would close a loophole in a system that foreign nationals must use to register or buy vehicles in South Africa.
“We will end the abuse of the traffic registration number system, which is currently being used as a form of identification by many,” he said.
“The Department of Transport will issue new regulations to align with the identification laws of our country within the next 3 months.”
Oh no! Was planning to do the same. Looks like I will have to go check out the interiors.I'm doing the same. Tried to open an account via the App but hard no as I don't have the ID card, need go to branch. Need ID card to open account online, but also need Capitec account to do the ID card.
I do have an FNB and Nedbank branch option but getting a booking is impossible as nothing is ever available. So will head off to a Capitec branch to open the account there.

Home Affairs sent my new ID to the wrong province with two follow ups they got it back within a month, which is not a benchmark, but hey I expected worse. I think they have a tough job with the current resources they have at their disposal, just sitting a day this place you would realise that there are a 100 things they can do better.Took them in total over two and a half years to issue my ID, during that time there wasn't a single instance where there wasn't a work around that prevented me from getting anything done, even with half the corporate world not accepting legally issued temporary ID's. and during that time, I only had one temporary ID which was a waste of money.

Surely the first issue should be free?I have a green book. Il gladly get a card if DHA waives the fee
I’m in a same boat regarding workarounds. Mostly my passport suffices, but recently the banks have started getting sticky about not accepting a passport if you are a South African - even though they can’t explain why. So I will probably have to face up to home affairs soon to sort this outTook them in total over two and a half years to issue my ID, during that time there wasn't a single instance where there wasn't a work around that prevented me from getting anything done, even with half the corporate world not accepting legally issued temporary ID's. and during that time, I only had one temporary ID which was a waste of money.
Unfortunately, a lot of places like Banks, think office policy trumps the law of the land, the downside is fighting them will require getting a court order which in most cases isn't worth the financial outlay unless you just want to make a point. There are many myBBers that live in ivory towers in cities and seemingly never leave their comfort zones, that will tell you you are lying.
